One Piece: Oda Reveals 3 New Gods Of The World

New gods have been revealed in One Piece. This reveal adds a lot of lore to the story.

In fact, on top of revealing answers to massive mysteries, Elbaf actually went to deliver even bigger mysteries, and One Piece chapter 1138 dove deep into them. Naturally, one of these mysteries connected to the Void Century, one of the biggest secrets in the story and quite possibly the most important period of time as well. In One Piece chapter 1138, Nico Robin deciphered the Harley texts, and through them, told the fans what exactly happened during the Second World, or the world of the Void Century

The War of the First World In One Piece

One Piece Nika Sword

Flames engulfed the land, and humans succumbed to their desires, touching the forbidden Sun. The enslaved prayed, and the Sun God appeared. The Earth God was enraged, and together with the serpent of infernal flames, shrouded the world in death and darkness. They would never meet again.

As revealed by the Harley texts, two calamities have struck the world of One Piece in the past, and while one was 900 years ago, which marked the beginning of the Void Century, the other was long before that, possibly 1600 or so years ago. During this time, the Harley texts portray a very modern world with tall buildings and factories among other things. Flames engulfed the world at this time, and it is likely that the vast resources present on the Earth allowed for a ton of Mother Flame to be produced. The world had an artificial sun at this point, the capabilities of which are likely far greater than anything that Vegapunk came up with long ago during the Egghead arc.

Our world was destroyed twice in the past, according to the Harley! — Jarul

Humanity grew very conceited and, due to their greed, used the power of the Sun for their own good. A king was elected, and it is believed slavery came to the world, likely to get access to more Mother Flame, among other things. The slaves prayed for the Sun God to come and rescue them, and their wishes came true, once again, possibly because of the Sun. It is hinted that the Sun God came from the moon itself in a ship resembling the Maxim. This incurred the Wrath of the Earth God and the Serpent of Infernal flames, who fought Nika and together destroyed the whole world.

The War Of The Second World

Second World

Breath stirred within the void, and the Forest God sent forth demons. The Sun did nothing but spread the fires of war. The people of the half-moon dreamed, the people of the full-moon dreamed. Humans slew the Sun and became Gods, and the Sea God raged. They Would never meet again. – Harley Text

The second war happened long after the first one, and fans know a specific timeframe for this one. 900 years ago, In a bountiful Kingdom, a child was born who later came to be known as Joy Boy. This individual would then go on to become the pioneer of a new age. Many years after the destruction of the world, breath stirred into the world once again and humanity started to flourish. A great kingdom with tremendous technology was present, which might be because they somehow survived the First World and held onto their powers.

One Piece: Oda Reveals Shamrock’s Overpowered Devil Fruit In Elbaf

The power wielded by Figarland Shamrock is revealed. His powers will be amazing to see in One Piece.

The Forest God, who could be an individual directly linked to the Sun Tree Eve and the Treasure Tree Adam, or potentially someone like Nika, who controls forests, was the one who gave the order to create demons. This can be interpreted in two ways. Either the demons created refers to the Devil Fruits. This would make sense as the Forest God should be able to spawn fruits. In the second interpretation, it can be asserted that demons refer to the army of the Forest God which likely consists of demons like the Elders.

The Dreams Of The D People

The people of the half-moon, which is the people of the D, and the people of the full moon, which are the winged races of the One Piece world, dreamed. Their dreams likely led to the return of Nika in the form of Joy Boy. But, 20 Kingdoms united against the Ancient Kingdom, and the Sun was slain.

The Death Of The Sun

It is important to note that the word here is the Sun and not the Sun God. The Sun likely refers to the holder of the Mother Flame, or the power source for the Ancient Weapon. By seizing the power, humans became Gods and, of course, Joy Boy died in this war as well.

The Rage Of The Sea God

One Piece's Shirahoshi standing in front of blue sky

The Sea God raged, and this could be a reference to how the sea rose and engulfed everything, sinking the world by 200 meters. Since Joy Boy was dead, he wouldn’t go on to meet the Sea God or any other ally ever again. It is unclear as to who the Sea God is exactly, but the best possible guess at this point is none other than Shirahoshi, or Poseidon.

The Creation of The Devil Fruits

one piece devil fruits

It was during this era that the Devil Fruits were created in one of two ways. Either the Devil Fruits were created by the Forest God, who spread forth demons to the world. Or, the Devil Fruits were created by the wishes and dreams of the half-moon people and the full-moon people, which could be one of their special attributes, given that they’re not humans and are likely to be from the moon in reality. In either case, the Devil Fruits came into existence during the Void Century.

In the mural that fans got to see along the Adam Tree, it was clear that Joy Boy led his allies into a war against Imu, the Earth God, who held the power of the Sun, or the source of fuel for the Ancient Weapons. Nika had many allies, including Giants, Ancient Giants, Kuja, Fishmen, Tontatta, Samurai, Minks, and Lunarians, among others. Yet, at the end of the war, the world sunk by 200 meters and Joy Boy died. That said, the Harley texts also say that the Sun was slain, which means that the infinite power source they held was lost as well. This explains why the Ancient Weapons have been sleeping since.

Now, the Third World is here and an ultimate war of massive proportions is set to follow.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1138, is set to be February 2, 2025.
