Yesterday, the news that most MultiVersus fans had been waiting for finally dropped, as it was revealed that the controversial live-service game won’t be continuing past Season 5 and will go completely offline at the end of May. It’s a bit of deja vu considering MultiVersus already took a year-long hiatus in 2023 that was supposed to fix its issues.

I Wish I Cared More About MultiVersus Going Offline Again
MultiVersus was once my favourite live-service game, but its demise was simply inevitable.
MultiVersus ending before it had the chance to deliver some of the characters that we know were being worked on, such as Daffy Duck and The Wicked Witch, is gutting enough, but the announcement was made worse when Warner Bros. confirmed that no refunds would be offered. This is being taken particularly hard by those who bought the Founder’s Packs.
MultiVersus Founders Feel “Scammed” By The Game Going Offline
For anyone who doesn’t remember or had the foresight not to buy into MultiVersus’ microtransactions (not me, I’m a fool), when the game entered its Open Beta state, it offered Founder’s Packs for those who were really invested. The most expensive of these packs cost $100 and came with 30 character tickets that could instantly unlock anyone was added to the game.
Now that MultiVersus is shutting down, though, a lot of players are pointing out that they have unused tickets. Over on the MultiVersus subreddit, Redditor RockmanBN legitimately asked if they’d been “scammed” by the game, as they still have 13 tickets that will never be used since the game is going offline.
As someone who spent gold to unlock a good amount of Season 1 characters, I still have 10 tickets left as MultiVersus is shutting down. Can only imagine it’s the same for a lot of players.
A lot of the comments agree to feeling scammed or “screwed over”, but one Redditor argues that with 35 characters on the roster when Lola and Aquaman get introduced, Player First Games has just barely managed to do it. That being said, six of those fighters (Banana Guard, Jason, Shaggy, Wonder Woman, Lola, and Aquaman) were all offered for free at one point.
It doesn’t seem like there’s any legal standing for anyone who bought the pass, as Player First Games technically included enough fighters in the game to unlock with the tickets, even if most players didn’t end up using them. RockmanBN isn’t the only one who’s annoyed about the situation, though, as there are plenty of posts on the subreddit sharing that feeling.
