MrBeast is calling out critic reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes after Beast Games was hit with a 13% aggregate score for critics on the popular review aggregator. The massively-hyped new show from the YouTube juggernaut has been one of the most highly-anticipated events in streaming, with $5 million on the line for the show’s 1,000 contestants. Beast Games has already seen staggering ratings following its premiere on Prime Video, with over 50 million viewers within just 25 days of the series’ premiere. Now, however, critics have not been taking as well to the MrBeast-produced series.
While Beast Games has seen largely positive reception from fans of the YouTube sensation, critics have not shared the same viewpoint on the series. Beast Games has been universally panned by critics, with poor review scores from a variety of professional reviewers citing the series’ loud and bombastic personality and the decision to not use contestants’ names. MrBeast Responds to Negative Critic Reviews of Beast Games
While critics may not have positive words for MrBeast’s newest Amazon series, the show’s performance has largely spoken for itself. Amazon Prime Video confirmed that, following its debut late last year, Beast Games quickly became the most-watched unscripted series in the streaming service’s history. Beast Games reportedly also served as the second biggest debut series in 2024, only losing out to the live-action adaptation of Fallout. Beast Games is expected to air two more episodes on Amazon Prime Video, with its finale scheduled for February 13.
MrBeast’s monumentally successful Amazon series comes as the content creator has recently made waves in the wake of the U.S. TikTok ban. MrBeast has reportedly teamed up with Roblox CEO David Baszucki to submit an offer to buy out TikTok from creator ByteDance, with the offer already standing at over $20 billion. ByteDance has currently not expressed interest in selling the platform despite its ban in the United States, though others like Microsoft and Elon Musk have been linked to its sale. Beast Games‘ final episodes will likely capture similar excitement to the series’ debut, despite its poor performance among critics.
