Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Mod Gives You PSN Suits Without An Account

Summary

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available on PC.
  • Sony incentivises players to make a PSN account to access two suits earlier in the game.
  • However, one of the most popular mods for the game bypasses this entirely.

Sony has increasingly been pushing for everyone to make PSN accounts, even if they play its games on PC. There have been high-profile examples such as Helldivers 2, which was going to make a PSN account mandatory after launch before this was rolled back. But there are more subtle ways of encouraging this, like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 giving you earlier access to two new suits.

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 now on PC, anyone wanting the 2099 suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales from the get-go will have to link a PSN account. However, since many are keen to avoid this, someone has already created a mod that bypasses this entirely, giving you the suits whenever you want, regardless of whether or not you have a PSN account.

Fans Are Modding Out The PSN Requirement To Get These Spider-Man Suits

Once again, PC players are eager to dodge PSN

The mod Get PSN benefits without an account was shared on Nexus Mods yesterday by user LNDF. Just as the name suggests, it should give you immediate access to the Spider-Man 2099 and Miles Morales 2099 suits, rather than having to wait to unlock them in-game or connect to a PSN account.

In just a day, the mod almost has 1,000 downloads. This is enough to make it one of the most downloaded mods on the Spider-Man 2 Nexus page, making it even more popular than the one that restores Peter Parker’s face from the original release of the first game.

Safe to say, PC players are not keen on having to make accounts outside of Steam. We see this all the time, as some won’t touch a game until it’s been ported to Steam, even if it’s available elsewhere on PC, such as through the Epic Games Store. At the very least, in Spider-Man’s case, it is not a requirement, and the only incentive was getting these suits a bit earlier.
