Mutants in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl can be extremely annoying, especially when you don’t know how to beat them. One such mutant is Psy Dog, as it is perhaps the most annoying one in the game. This particular mutant can be tough to deal with, especially if you are in an open space, as it can make copies of itself.
As soon as the fight starts, it will make copies that are, of course, illusions but make the fight ten times harder. So, even if you have managed to kill every single one of its copies, it just repeats the process. However, there is a way to deal with this gimmick.
How To Kill Psy Dogs
As soon as you encounter a Psy Dog, it will immediately make copies of itself. Those copies will be illusions, but they will still damage you. However, you will be able to get rid of the copies with just a single shot, but if you take too long, the main body will reset them. It is one of the most annoying mutants for a reason.
It is better to fight this particular mutant in closed space, as in open areas, tracking the real body can become hectic. If you are fighting the Psy Dog in an open space, finding higher ground can prove beneficial.
It is better to use an AR here as the real body will not participate in the fight. It is pretty hard to tell which one is the real, so keep shooting and if it is an illusion, it will go away with just one shot. However, if it is the real body, then it will try to run away, so make sure to be aggressive as soon as you spot the real body.
You can use a grenade to kill some of the copies to find the real body quickly.
If you can find the real body at the start, then using a shotgun and ignoring the copies to kill it is also a good strategy. If you are not feeling confident and your bullets are being wasted due to Psy Dog constantly respawning the illusions, you can run away from the fight.
