Summary
- Xbox is shifting away from exclusivity for first-party titles, and it’s now been claimed Gears of War could soon be coming to PS5.
- An insider called eXstas1s, who recently predicted Ninja Gaiden 4’s announcement, has claimed that a Gears of War remastered collection is in development.
- They have also claimed that when Xbox announces this collection, it will be announced that the game will launch on PS5 on day one.
Xbox has made it abundantly clear that it no longer sees a future in which it makes its first-party titles exclusive. If the arrival of games like Sea of Thieves, Indiana Jones, and The Outer Worlds 2 on PS5 weren’t enough to convince you of that, the announcement of Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5 earlier this week – one of Xbox’s three big franchises – should definitely get the point across.
Rumors had been swirling about Halo and Gears of War potentially joining Forza on PlayStation consoles, but fuel has now been thrown on the fire. A fairly reliable insider known as eXstas1s – who recently predicted the inclusion of Ninja Gaiden in Xbox’s most recent Developer Direct – uploaded a video earlier today, in which they claim a collection of the first three Gears of War games is in development.
Gears Of War Remastered Collection Will Reportedly Launch On PS5
In the video (translated by ResetEra user Rychu), eXstas1s claims that the game will be called Gears Collection, and that when Xbox eventually decides to announce this title, they will reveal that it’s also coming to PlayStation consoles as well.
“I can talk about Gears Collection because Gears Collection has cost me a lot to corroborate its existence, but it seems that it exists, and I can confirm that at the moment in which Gears Collection is announced, which I don’t know when it will be, but it will be announced as multiplatform day one.”

If Gears Of War Launches 2025, It Will Be Xbox’s Best Year Ever
E-Day could be targeting 2025. If it hits that ambitious goal, Xbox could finally be back at the top.
They also claim that the only thing they haven’t been able to confirm right now is whether the game is also scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch, though it does seem fairly likely, since Xbox and Nintendo have a much closer relationship. The only question is if the Switch 2 will be able to handle it.
If what eXstas1s claims is true, you do then have to wonder whether Gears of War: E-Day is headed for PS5 too. It’s apparently tipped to launch at some point in 2025, and it would be odd to see Xbox put the first three Gears games on PS5 and not the fancy new prequel. We’ll have to wait to see what shakes out, with news most likely coming during Xbox’s big summer showcase later this year.
