Blizzard announces that it has disabled the Decay Augmentation Witchcraft Power in Diablo 4 after players have been using it to deal damage beyond what was originally intended. Season 7, which also introduced Witchcraft powers to Diablo 4, arrived later in January, letting players team up with the Witches of Hawezar to find the missing heads from the Tree of Whisper.
While players discovered that some of the Witchcraft abilities and Occult Gems seem to bring back abilities from the Witch Doctor class last seen in Diablo 3, things haven’t always been smooth sailing due to various issues. Diablo 4 players have noted crashing issues that have began appearing more frequently. Others have also discovered one piece of unique armor for Barbarian’s was also bugged at the start of the season, though another issue was so egregious that Blizzard took action incredibly fast.

Diablo 4 Event Giving Players Chance to Earn New Mount
Diablo 4 announces details about a new event, and reveals that players will be able to obtain a new mount and other items in the coming days.
In an announcement on the Blizzard forums, Diablo’s global director of community let players know that the Decay Augmentation, part of the new Witchcraft abilities in Diablo 4, was being disabled. Blizzard’s Adam Fletcher went on to indicate that the ability was tied to a number of the issues resulting from certain builds and classes dealing some “very egregious numbers” beyond what the team intended. While players can still purchase the ability, Fletcher recommended against doing so as it can’t be equiped until reactivated once Blizzard is able to provide a hotfix for the issues.
Additional Diablo 4 Class Updates On The Way
In addition to the Decay Augmentation damage problem, Fletcher gave fans an update on some other class specific issues that Blizzard is working on fixing. The Barbarian’s Mantle of Mountain’s Fury bug in Diablo 4 saw a hotfix already, though the damage has been inconsistent, so another update is planned. The Necromancer’s Ring of Mendeln has an issue with minion builds, though a fix is planned for Update 2.1.2.
One class build that fans have been enjoying in Season 7 has been Diablo 4‘s Cataclysm Druid. At the start of the Season of Witchcraft, players noted that the Druid was able to pump out incredible amounts of damage, with one player even performing at at Pit 150, the highest level of the endgame activity. Theories as to why this was happening seemed to center on a bug impacting Cataclysm scaling, increasing the damage multiplier to help the class deal huge damage.
