Kadokawa announced that the Japanese version of their action RPG, Date A Live Spirit Crisis, will shutdown on February 28, 2025. Based on the popular anime series, Date A Live, the game’s global and HD version of this same game, Date A Live: Spirit Pledge HD was discontinued on May 20, 2023.

Date A Live Spirit Crisis is shutting down, with the devs committed to operating the service until the final day

For those unaware, Date A Live Spirit Crisis is a side-scrolling action RPG based on the Date A Live, light novel and anime series. The game features fast-paced side-scrolling combat with stunning skill effects, allowing you to switch between three characters during battles, each with unique skills, and more. It is a fun game with Live2D spirits, exhilarating battles, and a beloved cast of popular characters.

Unfortunately, the Date A Live Spirit Crisis management team has announced that the game will officially shutdown operations on February 28, 2025. The team assured, stating, “we will continue to operate the service wholeheartedly until the very end.

You will be able to utilize previously purchased Passes and apply for a refund on paid Diamonds

The game has already disabled new character creation, charging for new content and regular version updates. However, you can still enjoy playing the game until the service ends, and previously purchased items such as Passes and Monthly Passes will remain accessible until the final date.

There is one piece of good news available, with the game introducing the Spirit Summon Gacha, featuring all limited characters and exclusive items. On top of that, Gacha resources and various training items will be distributed for free to everyone via in-game mail until the end of the service date.

If you have unused paid diamonds, you can apply for a refund via the in-game Refund Application Form, with the deadline set for April 30, 2025. Make sure not to uninstall the app until the refund process is complete. After this date, the game will also be removed from the Google Play Store and App Store.

With both Global and HD versions having already shutdown, this was pretty much expected. While the game had great potential as mentioned by the fans, it also had some issues. It’s pretty sad to see yet another game terminating so early in the year.
