Summary

  • Delta is a genetically altered cyborg with unrivaled strength from being implanted with Otsutsuki DNA.
  • Delta can absorb ninjutsu, emit laser beams, switch consciousness between clones, and excel in taijutsu.
  • Delta’s remodeled form has increased physical prowess, overpowering Code and making her an even stronger character.

As a continuation to the Naruto series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has introduced a plethora of characters that have far surpassed the original series’ power ceiling. While the series’ protagonists, such as Boruto and Kawaki, are already clear examples, a few antagonistic characters have also achieved such godly strength. Delta is one such character, a former Inner of Kara and an antagonist-turned-ally for Konoha.

Delta is a rather complicated character, as her backstory is quite layered and nuanced, and her connection to Amado makes her all the more central to Boruto’s premise. Delta’s menacing presence stems from her immense prowess and fighting capabilities. As a genetically altered cyborg that is implanted with Shibai Otsutsuki’s DNA, Delta is a force to be reckoned with. While Delta was already rather powerful in her initial form, she acquired a new set of powers and unrivaled physical strength after being remodeled by Amado. This pins her as one of the strongest characters in the Boruto manga.

Who Is Delta?

A Former Inner Within Kara

First Appearance

Boruto, Episode 157 “Kara’s Footprints”

Debut Date

July 19, 2020

Kara’s introduction to Boruto was accompanied by a number of new menacing characters, who were later revealed to be Inners of Kara. Delta was one such character who held the title of being an Inner, a status within the organization only achieved by those loyal to Jigen’s cause, coupled with possessing unprecedented power. However, there’s more than meets the eye about Delta’s character, as she wasn’t loyal to Jigen’s cause out of her own free will. Instead, she was programmed by Amado to fight for Jigen’s cause, since this was only possible due to the fact that Delta is merely a clone of Amado’s own daughter, Akebi, who died from an incurable illness.

Resurrecting Akebi through Kara’s endgoal was also one of the reasons why Amado joined Jigen’s cause and became the lead scientist for Kara, though he eventually learned the truth about Isshiki’s plan and discarded his initial objective. After being shut down by Amado during his coup d’état against Jigen, Delta was reprogrammed and her loyalties were switched to Konoha, which now deems her an ally to the series’ protagonists. Nevertheless, she maintains her fierce persona and her insatiable bloodlust despite being allied to Konoha and fighting for their cause.

Delta’s Entire Body Is Modified With Scientific Tools

It won’t be wrong to state that Delta is a living scientific ninja tool, as every single part of her body is equipped with a form of scientific tool that can aid her in battle. Delta’s foremost ability is her power to absorb ninjutsu and all forms of chakra, which deems her immune to almost any and all ninjutsu attacks. This makes her rather overpowered against all shinobi who rely primarily on ninjutsu, such as Naruto.

Despite his immense chakra and Nine-Tails powers, Naruto struggled against Delta in their battle. While Naruto was able to overload her chakra-absorbing eyes with a multitude of supersized Rasengans, a normal shinobi would run out of chakra long before they could overload Delta’s chakra-absorbing eyes. Moreover, her eyes have another capability that allows her to shoot laser beams out of her eyes. While the concept of laser beams might not sound that powerful on its own, Delta’s unique ability allows her to emit a laser beam that nullifies all healing and regenerative abilities.

Boruto: The Parallels Between Kara and the Akatsuki

Kara bears many similarities to Naruto’s Akatsuki, some that are quite uncanny. Here’s a close look at the parallels between the two groups.

According to Kawaki, Delta’s laser beam has the power to crumble away cells entirely, leading to their regeneration being halted altogether. This aspect of her power is exactly what puts Naruto at a severe disadvantage during their battle, since he primarily relies on his regenerative abilities through Kuruma’s immense chakra. The rest of Delta’s body is also modified to aid her in battle. Her legs can be modified to either form rocket boosters that allow her to fly, or they can protrude from her body and target her opponents by penetrating through them.

They are destructive beams developed to counter regenerative powers. The cells of any body parts that get hit are completely obliterated.

Unparalleled Taijutsu Strength and Physical Prowess

Delta Excels in Hand-to-Hand Combat

Delta Fights Naruto

As a modified cyborg with an Otsutsuki’s DNA embedded in her, Delta possesses immense physical prowess. Excelling in Taijutsu, Delta can take on the strongest of opponents in close-range combat, as witnessed in her fight against Naruto Uzumaki. Even with Naruto in his Six Path Sage Mode, he struggled to contest Delta’s Taijutsu skills. Delta also has the ability to exude chakra that covers her entire body, in turn amplifying her physical capabilities by several-folds.

With both speed and raw strength, there are only a handful of shinobi that can go toe-to-toe with Delta in terms of taijutsu and close-range combat. With Delta now remodeled, her physical capabilities have far exceeded her previous potential. This became all the more evident right after she was reawakened after being reprogrammed by Amado. With her newfound brute strength, she was able to incapacitate Code, a character who has previously been deemed to be stronger than Delta. This clearly showcases her immense physical prowess, making her arguably the strongest physical fighter in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.

An Unkillable Conscience

Delta Can Switch Consciousness Between Multiple Clones

Delta's Clone in Boruto

While Delta is equipped with a plethora of scientific ninja tools that make her an unkillable war machine, her true strength lies in her undefeatable conscience. Even if her physical body is destroyed entirely, she can simply link her consciousness to another replica of herself. This was first witnessed during her battle against Naruto, where viewers initially assumed that she had been defeated for good.

Sarada needs the Rinnegan if she wants to scale up to the stronger enemies in Boruto. She could obtain this power.

After being defeated by the Seventh Hokage, Delta opens her eyes once more in Amado’s lab in another replica of her body. Seeing how it took all of Naruto’s strength to defeat Delta in her previous form, truly putting an end to Delta’s existence is seemingly impossible, as she can be brought back an unlimited number of times as long as a replica of her exists. Moreover, Delta can also switch her consciousness to other objects, evident from the fact that her consciousness is also linked to the small drone she carries on her back.

A Remodified Delta

Delta Has Returned to Boruto Stronger Than Ever

Reprogrammed Delta in Boruto

In the Boruto anime, Delta was last seen being put in a state of stasis by Amado during his coup d’état against Jigen. That was the last of Delta that viewers got to witness in the Boruto anime and the initial parts of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga. However, Delta was brought back once more in the Omnipotence Arc, albeit this time in a newly developed body. Delta’s new body embodies her previous powers, coupled with a significantly higher degree of raw physical prowess.

Right after being reawakened, Delta was able to easily overpower Code and pin him down, which is certainly a feat considering Code was initially much stronger than Delta. Though she was eventually stopped by Eida, the fact remains that Delta is now an even stronger character than her initial form, one that was able to go toe-to-toe with Naruto. While Delta has now been reprogrammed to be an ally to Konoha, she still maintains her cruel and menacing persona, one that compliments her unprecedented power.
