Psychic Pokemon are among the top tier of cards in the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, and with the release of the Space-Time Smackdown set, it gets a bit of a boost to help diversify the meta a bit with some strong new cards.

These are the best Energy Acceleration cards in Pokemon Pocket.

Among these new Psychic-type Pokemon are some strong mythical Pokemon introduced into the game for the first time and a snazzy new ex card with some very strong potential. If you’re wondering which of these Psychic Pokemon are the best of the best while you’re cracking packs, we’ve got you covered.

Mesprit

Overwhelming Power In A Little Package

This little Pokemon has a ton of power packed into a tiny body, and that can make for a unique deck-building challenge for anyone looking to play something a little different from the main popular decks.

Mesprit can dish out 160 damage with its Supreme Blast attack, though the attack can take a little bit of setup to get going. Not only does it take three Psychic Energy to get going, but you also can only use the attack if you have both Uxie and Azelf on your Bench. That said, 160 damage is more than enough to take out a few ex Pokemon, which might just be good enough to take an opponent by surprise if they’re not careful.

Ralts

A Tiny Upgrade

The Pokemon Pocket card Ralts by Miki Towaka.

Ralts might not be super impressive as a Pokemon; we all can admit that. However, it is a part of one of the top decks in the game, which means that any other iteration of it that releases demands a close look.

These Pokemon abilities have the potential to change the tide of battle.

This Ralts has the same HP as the Genetic Apex version, and its Teleport attack doesn’t actually do any damage, but that’s okay since it can help you sustain a bit. When you use Teleport, you can switch this Ralts out with any other Pokemon on your Bench. Doing so saves Ralts from most attacks and keeps the little Feeling Pokemon healed up and ready to evolve into Gardevoir.

Dusknoir

A Trip To The Afterlife

The Pokemon Pocket card Dusknoir by Suqama Chiaki.

A terrifying Pokemon when you look at the lore, Dusknoir is a bit of a tank in the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, letting you sit back and heal up your other Pokemon without the need for Trainers or other effects.

Make sure you read the flavor text for Dusknoir when you open it; it has some chilling implications for the Pokemon afterlife.

Thanks to the Shadow Void ability that Dusknoir comes with, you can move all the damage off of one of your Pokemon and transfer it to Dusknoir. You can activate this ability as often as you like on your turn, giving you the potential to heal your team. This ability can be particularly good against attacks that deal damage to Pokemon on your Bench since it lets you focus all the damage onto a single Pokemon.

4

Togekiss

A Kiss And A Punch

The Pokemon Pocket card Togekiss by Kawayoo.

This Stage 2 Psychic Pokemon is a good 1-2 punch if you’re looking for something a little different. You have to follow the Togepi evolutionary chain, but once you reach this Psychic Pokemon’s highest form, you get an efficient attacker with a solid body.

Can the flip of a single coin can truly decide a match? With these powerful moves, almost certainly.

Togekiss deals 60 damage with its Overdrive Smash attack, one that costs only two Psychic Energy to use. On your next turn, Overdrive Smash gets a huge boost, dealing 120 damage. If you’re able to get both attacks off on a single Pokemon, you’re dealing a total of 180 damage, which is more than enough damage to take out most ex Pokemon.

3

Cresselia

A Cosmic Blessing

There’s not much healing in Psychic-type Pokemon from the Pokemon TCG Pocket sets, so another one with a healthy amount of sustain is always a solid choice. Cresselia is a Basic Pokemon that comes down with 110 HP, a solid start for a Pokemon that doesn’t evolve.

Once you get two Energies on it, you can use Cresselia’s Moonlight Gain attack to deal a solid 50 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokemon. If the attack resolves, you get to heal 20 damage from Cresselia, negating a good amount of damage that will come your way. Depending on how the game is shaping up, Cresselia can be a solid wall early in the game that your opponent might have some trouble punching through.

2

Giratina

Slip Between Dimensions

Oftentimes seen as the counterpart of Cresselia, Giratina is a strong new addition to the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, filling a very specific role but one that gives you some versatility in your game. Giratina’s Levitate ability lets you swap it out from the Active spot for free, ignoring the triple colorless retreat cost, so long as it has an Energy attached to it.

That Energy can be of any type, it just needs an Energy. You can sit Giratina out in the Active Spot, let it tank a hit or two from an early game attacker, and then swap it out for free for a powered up ex Pokemon.

1

Mismagius ex

A Magical Conundrum

Hands down, the best Psychic Pokemon to come out of the Space-Time Smackdown set is that of Mismagius ex. This Stage 1 ex Pokemon might not seem super impressive to start but can be a rather bothersome Pokemon for your opponent to punch through.

Mismagius ex sits at 140 HP, letting it take a hit or two while you get its Magical Delusion attack set up. This attack deals a respectable 70 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokemon but also leaves it confused, no coin flipping required. Confusion is one of the more frustrating status effects to work through since, if it fails, your opponent’s attack does nothing. No damage and no other effects, which can help keep Mismagius alive for a few more turns.
