The Lunar Festival is World of Warcraft’s homage to the Chinese New Year, complete with fireworks, dragons, and lanterns. The event takes place in Moonglade among the druids and is centered around honoring the Elders of Azeroth, who only appear during these few weeks.

It takes more than one key to secure this ride.
Coins of Ancestry, the special currency during the Lunar Festival, can be used to purchase appearances, fireworks, food, Battle Pets, and, coolest of all, a firework-themed mount. Purchasing the expensive Lunar Launcher can take quite a while to get if you don’t know where to look. Luckily, we’ve got a guide to make the process easier.
How To Get The Lunar Launcher
You will need 75 Coins of Ancestry to purchase the Lunar Launcher, which can be earned in two main ways: the Lunar Preservation quest and gathering them from Elders placed all across Azeroth. Once you’ve got enough coins, head to Valadar Stormsong in Moonglade to get your very own mount.
Coins of Ancestry are not Warbound, meaning you will have to get all 75 on one character.
Lunar Preservation Quest
An easy quest, Lunar Preservation, can give 25 Coins of Ancestry, putting you well on your way to the 75 total needed. To start, simply head to Myrael Lunarbloom in Moonglade at the coordinates 53.2 36.0. She will task you with using the Staff of Moonflowers at each of the Moonwells in the world, namely Ashenvale, Felwood, Feralas, Moonglade, Stonetalon Mountains, Duskwood, and Mount Hyjal.
This quest can only be done once per character.
A quest marker will lead you to each objective, all you have to do is make sure you get to each spot within 60 minutes, or else you will have to restart. Luckily, this is very easy, and you will most likely get there with plenty of time to spare.
We recommend doing this quest on a druid, as their spells Teleport: Moonglade or Dreamwalk will be very helpful in speeding up the process.
All Elder Locations
In order to get the rest of the coins needed, you will need to travel across Azeroth and interact with Elder NPCs that will give you one Coin of Ancestry each. These are spread across multiple zones and continents, so getting the amount of coins you need can take a long time.
Additionally, some will be in the opposite faction, so be wary of high-leveled guard NPCs nearby. If you’re ready to start the long grind, below is a comprehensive list of every Elder and where they are located.
If you cannot see an Elder where they are supposed to be, check if Zidormi is in that zone and ask to go back in time.
