Black Myth: Wukong sold 10 million copies in its first three days, 18 million in two weeks, and 20 million in just one month, with many in the community shocked by the numbers. Controversy arose following The Game Awards 2024 presentation, however, as a developer reported that she saw a member of the Black Myth: Wukong team crying after Astro Bot won the coveted Game of the Year award. The Chinese team didn’t go home empty-handed, winning Best Action Game, and Players’ Voice. Black Myth: Wukong also took home Game of the Year, Best Game You Suck At, and Outstanding Story at the Steam Awards 2024.
