Florence Pugh Teases A Major Stunt She Performed In Marvel’s Thunderbolts
Florence Pugh shared the most massive stunt she did in Thunderbolts* that was definitely not for someone with acrophobia.
Viswanathan sat down for an interview with Screen Rant to promote her romantic comedy film You’re Cordially Invited. The interviewer mentioned a scene where she did a musical number with Will Ferrell, who played her dad in the movie, and asked the actress if she considered herself a “Songbird.” Upon hearing the question, Viswanathan smiled while shaking her head and it took a few seconds before she said a word. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she said, which prompted her co-star Meredith Hagner and the interviewer to burst into laughter. “Never in my life have I heard something like that. Yeah. Oh, look what you’ve done. Now, I’m all nervous. In this film, in You’re Cordially Invited, I sing. I sing a song, but I’m not a bird. That’s right.”
The interviewer told Viswanathan, after hearing her response, that it was “fair enough” and that he wasn’t sure how she was interpreting the question. “Oh no, actually no. I’m so normal and relaxed right now. You (Meredith Hagner, co-star) have no idea what’s happening, so I’ll fill you in later,” she added. Not much is known about Viswanathan’s role in Thunderbolts* other than her being called “Mel.” This sparked rumors she’s Melissa Gold aka Songbird. Aside from Viswanathan, Pullman’s character named “Bob” also raised many questions. There are rumors that he’s Robert Reynolds, a.k.a Sentry. However, just like Viswanathan, the actor didn’t reveal the mystery surrounding his role. “I was as surprised as everyone else to see what is happening with [my character] Bob, and it’s all a mystery,” Pullman said (via People), tantalizing, “It happened so long ago, I don’t really remember exactly.”
Although Viswanathan and Pullman have remained mum about their mysterious roles in Thunderbolts*, chances are high that the theories about their characters are correct. Viswanathan previously shared that her character has some ties with Valentina and that she’s kind of the latter’s “little right-hand man.” She added that working closely with Julia Louis-Dreyfus was a dream come true. While there’s no established relationship between the two in the MCU, in the comics, Songbird is a member of the Thunderbolts, a team assembled by Valentina. They are a group of antiheroes and former villains. The morally complex characters are on a mission that may involve morally gray operations or damage control. And some of them seek redemption. In the comics, Songbird was introduced as a criminal called Screaming Mimi due to her sonic-based abilities. She later became a hero and one of the respected leaders of the Thunderbolts.
Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
