14 Beginner Tips For Ender Lilies: Quietus Of The Knights

Ender Lilies is like if Child of Light happened in the Dark Souls universe. Here are some tips to get started in the game.

The game can be a fair challenge if you’re not used to the genre, and there are a lot of things that you need to figure out early on so that you don’t have any regrets in the late game. These few tips will help you get up to speed in no time, and you’ll be able to deal with the many challenges the Land of Fumes throws at you.

Explore Every Corner Of A Section

The image shows the map showing complete and incomplete zones in the Tethered Steeple area of Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist.

As a Metroidvania title, there can be certain things hidden in plain sight in each zone or section of the map. Luckily, when you open the map, it will tell you if you’ve completed a section fully by finding everything and defeating every enemy or not.

There are also illusory walls in certain zones of the map, and these walls require you to be extremely close to them to reveal the hidden zone. It is always a good idea to walk to every corner of a section just to see if you’ve missed something.

If a map section is colored in blue, that means that you’ve fully cleared a section and there’s nothing more to find there. On the other hand, if a map section is still gray, that means that there are still some secrets that you’ve yet to uncover in a section.

Sometimes, you’re simply unable to complete the section due to it requiring powers that you don’t currently have. So, keep looking at the map often to check if you’ve missed anything, and once you’re ready, you can come back to complete the section.

Break Every Breakable Object

You won’t find too many breakable objects in the game, but when you find one, make sure you use an attack to break these objects to get something out of them. These breakable objects may give you one of the three types of currency, or may also drop rare items, such as relics or equipment.

However, certain enemies can disguise themselves as breakable objects, and you have to be wary of them. Other than that, it’s always a good idea to swing your attack at everything that might seem breakable. These breakable objects do respawn, so you can get a lot of currency out of them.

One way to spot breakable objects that aren’t regular crates is that they’ll be sparkling, such as certain plants or minerals that you may encounter on your journey.

No Shame In Dying Repeatedly

If you’ve encountered a tough enemy, don’t get frustrated if you’ve died a few times. There’s no significant penalty for dying in regular difficulty modes, except that you’d have to begin again from a respite and walk all the way to the enemy again.

This is exceptionally useful when you’re fighting against bosses, as there’s usually a respite nearby, and you can afford to die multiple times until you completely figure out how to deal with the attacks of your enemy and how to successfully dodge them.

Go All In When Buying Magic Vials

A Magic Vial is an item that allows you to increase your relic slots. You can get this item by exploring or buying it from a Craftory. You can equip up to ten relics at once, but each relic usually requires more than one relic slot, so you’ll need a ton of Magic Vials if you want to equip multiple relics at once.

Buying Magic Vials from a Craftory is the easiest way to get them, but these are limited in stock, and every time you buy them, their price goes up by a significant amount. But, considering how useful relics are and how desperately you need more relic slots, it’s always wise to spend as much as you can when buying Magic Vials.

It’s a great year to use new power-ups to unlock new areas.

Recognize The Attack Tells Of Every Enemy

The image shows that the Steeple Executioner is about to use an attack in Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist.

Every enemy in the game gives you a slight visual cue before they begin their attack, which allows you to prepare yourself to dodge or counter it. You’ll have to learn to recognize this visual cue if you want to die fewer times and have an easier time dealing with any type of enemy.

If custom difficulty, you can manually turn off these visual cues, but if you’re not using the custom difficulty, you’ll be able to recognize when an attack is coming and be ready for it. Usually, you’ll notice the eyes of your enemy glow for a moment before they unleash an attack, but later on, some enemies have different visual cues for different types of attacks.

Do A Dash After Every Jump To Increase Travel Distance

You may find certain platforms that might appear impossible to reach, but you might be able to reach them if you perform a dash after each jump. Usually, when you do a quick double jump, you’re only able to dash once, and that might not be enough to reach certain platforms.

The best way to go about it is to jump once, dash in the required direction, do the second jump, and then dash again. This method allows you to travel the most distance in midair. If you’re unable to dash or double jump in midair, wait till you’ve progressed a little and acquired the Attuner’s Cloak.

You Can Fast Travel From Anywhere

The image shows the description for the Fast Travel action in Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist.

The game drastically limits your ability to do anything from the menu, such as changing your equipment, relics, or abilities, whenever you’re not resting at a respite location. However, fast travel is one of the actions that can be done from anywhere, even when you’re not at a respite location.

Fast travel can be unlocked by doing the main story progression, and once you have it, you can travel to any of the respites where you’ve previously rested. This feature makes it very easy to come back to the sections that you’ve yet to completely explore, as you don’t have to walk all the way to get an item that you might not even use that much.

Utilize The Environment To Your Advantage

The image shows Lilac standing on top of a lift to reach a platform in Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist.

There are many things in the environment that you can use for exploration and combat. For example, if there are any lifts, you can use those not only to travel from one platform to the other, but you can also use them as a platform to reach places that might be unreachable otherwise, by jumping on top of them.

Similarly, if there is any water in the area, you can knock enemies into it to immediately kill them. When you fill the break gauge of an enemy by repeatedly attacking them, they will be knocked away and staggered for a moment. If they fall into the water after being knocked away, they will immediately die. This is also true for flying opponents, so you can use that to your advantage.

Furthermore, sometimes you may encounter an enemy near the edge of a platform, and in this case, it’s not super safe to just jump to the edge as you might get hit by an attack. You can then try to lure the enemy out of their location or wait for them to get back a little before you make your jump, or you can simply rely on ranged attacks.
