As part of The Sims series’ 25th anniversary celebration, developer Maxis has announced that The Sims and The Sims 2 are once again available to purchase on PC. The reveal comes after a handful of subtle teases by the studio, and heavy speculation from fans. Both games will be available to purchase separately, with The Sims: Legacy Collection retailing for $20 and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection coming in at $30. Those looking to purchase both games can pick up The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, which combines them for the slightly discounted price of $40.

In addition to a whole lot of nostalgia, each game comes with every expansion released for the title, as well as select packs. Below is a list of all content included in each game:

The Sims: Legacy Collection

  • The Sims: Livin’ Large
  • The Sims: House Party
  • The Sims: Hot Date
  • The Sims: Vacation
  • The Sims: Unleashed
  • The Sims: Superstar
  • The Sims: Makin’ Magic

The Sims 2: Legacy Collection

  • The Sims 2: Mansion & Garden Stuff

Each Legacy Collection also comes with a DLC pack for The Sims 4, with The Sims offering the Throwback Fit Kit and the Sims 2 offering the Grunge Revival Kit.

In preparation for the big announcement, we gave The Sims: Legacy Collection a whirl earlier this week and discovered that it holds up shockingly well–even if it is a bit brutal.

“Bringing back our original Sims games where all the chaos first unfolded and the life simulation genre began is special for our team and a birthday treat for our players,” The Sims vice president and general manager Kate Gorman Revelli wrote in a press release. “Our players have been wishing to relive all the nostalgia, and we knew our birthday would be the perfect moment to celebrate with them and introduce The Sims to new players. We look forward to another exciting 25 years of The Sims as we continue empowering our community to reimagine all the different ways they play with life.”

Both games, as well as the Birthday Bundle, are available to purchase on PC via Steam, the EA App, and the Epic Games Store. EA Play Pro members will have immediate access to the titles as a part of their subscription.

In other Sims news, The Sims 4 players also have their own 25th anniversary celebrations to look forward to, as the game’s Blast from the Past event kicks off on February 4. The free, limited-time event is scheduled to run for four weeks and will reward diligent players with iconic items from the series, such as inflatable furniture and a gigantic, three-tiered “cake” that hides a spicy surprise.
