Summary

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, released in 2023 for the PS5, is now available for PC.
  • However, following the game’s launch on the platform, users reported graphical glitches and game crashes.
  • A new hotfix has been rolled out to address the biggest issues, with more updates to come.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received its first PC hotfix update a day after launching on the platform. Earlier this week, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 finally swung onto PC, allowing gamers who didn’t get to play Insomniac’s latest open-world superhero epic when it launched on the PS5 in late 2023 a chance to take the symbiote-invaded streets of New York City for a spin. In addition to all the action found in the PS5 version, the newly-released Spider-Man 2 PC port offers enhanced graphics through Nvidia’s DLSS Ray Reconstruction and Intel XeSS upscaling, among other perks.

However, not everyone is pleased with Spider-Man 2’s performance on PC. About 45% of the game’s Steam reviews following its launch have been negative, citing various graphical glitches and game crashes on even the most up-to-date computers. Technical issues are nothing new for Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, but players on PC are still hoping to see the worst of these problems corrected in future updates.

New Spider-Man 2 PC Update Is the First of Many

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is just the latest of Sony’s efforts to bring its biggest first-party PS5 exclusives to the wider PC audience, and it won’t be the last to come out this year. April 3 will see the release of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PC, and will likely feature many of the same technical enhancements of the recent Spider-Man 2 port. Recently, Sony announced that it would be doing away with the controversial PSN requirement for some of its PC titles while offering up special bonuses for players who log in to their accounts.

As Insomniac reportedly switches gears toward future games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and Marvel’s Wolverine, its most recent superhero adventure is getting further exposure on PC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 received ample praise when it launched on PS5 in 2023, and with future updates and mods, the new Spider-Man 2 PC port has the potential to swing to new heights. The previous two Marvel’s Spider-Man games, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, are already available on PC, having been ported back in 2022.
