Planet Robobot Switch Remaster Rumors Fueled By Nendoroid Reprint

Summary

  • Good Smile has opened pre-orders ready for a Kirby Robobot armor re-release.
  • The figure is being reprinted and will be released at the end of 2025.
  • Its return to Good Smile has fanned the flames of the Planet Robobot remaster rumors that began last year.

The same leaker who accurately predicted when Nintendo would reveal the Switch 2 also claimed at the end of 2024 that a Switch remaster of Kirby: Planet Robobot is in the works. Still no official word from Nintendo on that, but a recently announced reprint of the Nendoroid companion for the 3DS game has only got those hopeful the leaks are correct even more convinced that another Kirby remaster will be revealed any day now.

Good Smile, the creator of Nendoroids, published a flurry of tweets on Thursday evening, revealing that several of its Kirby figures are being reprinted and pre-orders for them have reopened. However, it was the final Kirby Nendoroid announcement that piqued people’s interest the most. A reprint of Kirby’s Robobot Armor from the game of the same name, complete with a Kirby figure to pilot it, of course.

Good Smile Opens Pre-Orders For Its Jinx Nendoroid

Arcane’s Jinx now has her own Nendoroid.

The Robobot Armor is around six inches tall and when combined with the accompanying Kirby figure is supposed to allow fans to physically recreate the original game’s cover art. There’s a face plate for Kirby, and a helmet, which affords you the chance to do that. However, since those parts can be removed, and the armor is posable, you can display your Robobot armor however you like.

Good Smile Is Reprinting Kirby’s Robobot Armor Nendoroid

Now, Where’s The Switch Remaster To Match, Nintendo?

The restocked Nendoroid can be pre-ordered at Good Smile through the link in the box below for $56.99, but as is always the case for new or re-released Nendoroids, the wait for it to arrive will be a long one. The Robobot Armor Nendoroid won’t ship until Q4 2025. On the bright side, if you have a Kirby fan in your life that’s hard to shop for, that’s their Christmas present sorted with 11 months to spare.

The even brighter side is the indication that this reprint means a Planet Robobot remaster is coming to Nintendo Switch. If that is the plan, then there’s a chance we get confirmation from Nintendo very soon. It’s believed Nintendo is planning a Direct for the original Switch in February, using it to provide an update on what it still has planned for its current console before shifting the bulk of its focus to the Switch 2.

Kirby’s Robobot Armor Nendoroid is based on the mech Kirby uses in the Nintendo 3DS game of the same name. The Kirby figure that sits inside of the armor can be removed and has a removable faceplate, and the helmet Kirby is wearing is also an accessory that can be removed.

That focus will really begin to shift when Nintendo holds its first Switch 2 Direct on April 2, 2025. The two months following that will be filled with Switch 2 Experience events during which ticketholders will be among the first to try Nintendo’s new console, by which point we will hopefully know a release date. I’m still lobbying for mid-June, but all we know for certain is that it will be released in 2025.
