Pokemon TCG Pocket launches its A2 card expansion, Space-Time Smackdown, featuring 207 Pokemon; here’s a complete list.
As reported by IGN, fans have discovered a particularly grim piece of art featured on a new Weavile card in Space-Time Smackdown. A new full-art card for Weavile depicts several of the Sneasel evolution lurking among the treetops of a snowy forest, watching as a Swinub passes by underneath. The artwork heavily suggests that the Weaviles are hunting the Swinub, lying in wait to pounce upon their unsuspecting prey. The Weavile ex card is available out of the Palkia packs from Space-Time Smackdown as a two-star rarity card.
New Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Features Dark Art
The unusual Weavile card saw plenty of amused reactions from fans, marveling at the unusually dark depiction of the Pokemon world. Many marveled at the more realistic depiction of the world of the franchise, with Pokemon rarely depicting violence between the creatures outside of battle. Some were quick to point out similar cards that have depicted Pokemon hunting other creatures, including a card from “Genetic Apex” with Pidgeot plucking a Magikarp out of the water. The card was also speculated to be connected to a new Mamoswine card, showing the final evolution leading a pack of Swinubs.
The intriguing new card art comes as Pokemon TCG Pocket has introduced another promised mechanic to the game alongside its new set. After being teased from the game’s launch, TCG Pocket finally debuted its trading system earlier this week, though the system has already been met with criticism. Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s trading system requires players to spend a significant amount of “Trade Tokens,” often requiring staggering totals from dismantling duplicate cards in order to trade. Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s long-requested trading may have missed the mark, but the newest set added plenty of stunning new cards to the game.
