After about 15 months of PlayStation 5 exclusivity, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games’ follow-up to the original Marvel’s Spider-Man, is now out on PC. That said, at the moment, things aren’t looking too great for Peter and Miles.

What Was The Best Spider-Man Game Before Insomniac Took Over?

There were dozens of Spider-Man games before Insomniac became the Spider-Man studio, but which ones were the best?

As TheGamer reported earlier on Friday, the game is being panned for a rash of issues, including poor optimization and crashes. In turn, the game has dropped to “Mixed” status on Steam, with over 1,500 reviews and counting. In one instance, a user recommended players hold off buying until the issues are resolved.

On the other side of things, it’s being claimed that the game has already been cracked on PC, meaning illegal torrents of the title are swirling. What’s more, it’s claimed it only took two minutes to do so, given that the game did not launch with Denuvo.

In a separate thread on IconEra, it’s reported that on one tracker alone, the game has amassed nearly 300,000 peers, or people who are also attempting to download the file. For reference, Spider-Man 2’s all-time peak, via SteamDB, sits at 24,205 players.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Experienced The Same Thing

Just one week ago, TheGamer reported how Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was also cracked on launch day due to its lack of Denuvo. While it wasn’t nearly as quick as Spider-Man 2, it didn’t take too long for torrents of the game to begin swirling on the internet.

Still, it doesn’t seem like the potential for piracy has harmed the game all too much. In fact, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the series’ biggest single-player PC launch, though that figure would’ve and could’ve obviously been higher had it not been cracked. While Denuvo certainly isn’t the end-all be-all solution, it certainly can delay the turnaround of torrents, and thus prevent cracks within minutes.
