How to Reach Other Islands

How to Reach Other Islands

The island that players spawn into is only a small part of the larger world in Necesse. There are a large amount of islands present around the player that can be reached by boat if the player is bold enough to venture outside the borders of their small settlement state.

Different islands offer different biomes and resources, which come in handy for crafting new materials and exploring the mechanics of the game. Additionally, some different biomes offer different cave systems for the player to explore.

How to Create a Boat in Necesse

Player Riding a Boat in Necesse

Going to different islands on the map requires the player to craft a boat. This is one of the simplest items to craft in the game. In fact, it only needs you to have x10 Any Log in your inventory, not even needing a Workstation. Players can craft it right in their inventory as it is a simple recipe.

Once crafted, players can take the boat and equip it in their mount slot. Pressing F (by default) will deploy the mount, though it only works in water, not on land. If the players want to use it without assigning it as a mount, they can equip it in their hotbar, press left click to deploy it, and board the boat. Steering the boat uses the same controls as walking in the game.

How to Travel to Other Islands in Necesse

Player Choosing an Island to explore in Necesse

You can open your map by pressing M, and if you navigate to the World Map tab, you can see all the islands that you’ve discovered so far in your journey. These include islands discovered by traveling to them, and those discovered using maps. To travel to any particular island, players just need to choose the general direction of the island relative to their location and sail to it on their boat. Once you reach the edge of the local map, you will get a prompt, “Travel X Direction.”

Going to a corner, e.g. south-east, will place the player on the north-western islands on a 5×5 grid on the world map, with each grid representing an island. Players can travel to any of the 24 islands highlighted on their map. If you travel in a simple cardinal direction, e.g. East, West, North, or South, you will be placed in the middle of the edge of a 5×5 grid on the world map with the available options facing towards the selected direction.
