FromSoftware has included multiplayer in its games for a few decades now, but it’s rarely been the focal point of the experience. That’s all set to change with the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign, a 3-player co-op standalone spinoff that seems to be borrowing heavily from the roguelike genre.
But while Elden Ring Nightreign is experimenting with a bold new premise, it’s going to have plenty of familiar features for long-time FromSoftware fans. Elden Ring Nightreign‘s reveal trailer already teased the return of some beloved Dark Souls bosses, and that could pave the way for FromSoft to dive even deeper into its back-catalog to bring back some iconic armor sets.

Armor Sets That Should Return in Elden Ring Nightreign
Elden Ring’s General Radahn Set
One of the most iconic armors from Elden Ring‘s base game, General Radahn’s set can be purchased from Enia at the Roundtable Hold after players conquer the challenging Starscourge Radahn boss fight. Though this armor set features some impressively detailed engravings, it’s the striking Redmane Helm that really sets it apart from the rest of Elden Ring‘s roster. If only one Elden Ring armor returns in Nightreign, it should be this one.
Dark Souls’ Artorias Set
The Dark Souls trilogy is home to a vast swathe of excellent bosses, many of whom have incredibly memorable visual designs. But Knight Artorias might have the best design of the bunch, with his dark blue accents being the perfect accompaniment to his shining silver armor. Though it isn’t the strongest armor in Dark Souls, Artorias’ set is relatively light, which makes it a great option for less tanky builds.
Dark Souls’ Havel Armor
On the other side of the spectrum is Dark Souls‘ Havel armor. Present in all three Dark Souls games, Havel’s armor is absurdly heavy, but it offers almost unparalleled levels of defense, particularly against poise-breaking attacks. Havel’s armor set also features some very distinctive leg guards, pauldrons, and a helmet, with thick engraved lines running across the entire outfit.
Elden Ring Nightreign is set in a parallel universe, so it might make a bit more sense to see returning FromSoftware bosses, weapons, and armors.
Bloodborne’s Yharnam Hunter Set
Bloodborne deserves to be referenced at every opportunity, so it’d be great to see at least one outfit come to Elden Ring Nightreign. There is no shortage of iconic outfits in Bloodborne, but one obvious pick would be the Yharnam Hunter set. Despite being purchasable in the Hunter’s Dream from the get-go, Bloodborne‘s Yharnam Hunter set remains an efficient piece of kit throughout the game’s duration. This outfit has become synonymous with Bloodborne‘s Gothic setting and art style due to its leather coat, crossing belts, and tricorn hat combo, making it a great choice for Elden Ring Nightreign.
Demon’s Souls’ Rogue Set
It might not be as immediately striking as the Ancient King armor, but Demon’s Souls‘ Rogue set has a certain regal quality that would make it a stand-out choice for Elden Ring Nightreign. Along with a sleek golden mask, the Rogue set features an intricate golden pattern sewn into its rich fabric, making it one of the best-looking armor sets in Demon’s Souls.
