Now, the 60 FPS patch creator, Lance McDonald, has revealed that he removed all links to the unofficial patch after receiving a DMCA takedown from Sony Interactive Entertainment. The project was originally released on February 21, 2021, almost four years ago, and Sony never seemed to have any problems with it until now. The timing of the event has obviously prompted some fans in the comments to suggest a possible Bloodborne remaster coming out soon, while others remained skeptical of the possibility.

A Bloodborne remaster and a PC port are among the biggest dreams of FromSoftware fans. Over and over, insiders keep confirming that there’s no PC port for Bloodborne in the works, but some fans remain hopeful that it will happen one day.

A few weeks ago, former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida theorized why the Bloodborne remaster never happened. According to him, Bloodborne’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, “really” loves the game and has some interest in revisiting it, but does not want others to touch the title. So, his likely busy schedule makes it impossible for him to work directly on a remaster, and the project would not move on without him. That’s all speculation, though, and it’s impossible to tell whether Yoshida’s comments actually reflect the reasons for the lack of a remaster.

In any case, the PC emulation of Bloodborne is making progress recently. Last year, the game’s emulation using shadPS4 crossed a major milestone, fixing many of the sound issues that plagued the emulated version of Bloodborne. Hopefully, Sony and FromSoftware will eventually release the eagerly awaited Bloodborne remaster one day, as it seems like it would sell well, considering how many fans have been asking for this during the last few years.
