The one good thing you can give this broom is that at least it gets a few feet off the ground and allows Mika to do the basics of her brand-new delivery job. The Repaired Broom is like when you get a car for the first time, but it’s 30 years old and barely runs. You can, by no means, claim that it’s a reliable transport, but when you’re getting used to the rules of the road (or the rules of flying, in this case) it’s a good start.

The Repaired Broom looks horrible, from an aesthetic perspective, and it only barely functions. It moves slowly, doesn’t get that far off of the ground, and you can only pick up one package at a time with it. Thankfully, you aren’t shackled to this broom for too long, because as soon as you complete your first day, you gain access to the Basic Broom.

By the time you get the Basic Broom, it feels like a massive upgrade (even if that happens relatively soon because Mika And The Witch’s Mountain is a very short game). Not only can you carry one more package, but you can also move slightly faster and get slightly higher up off of the ground.

Given that now you’re given the opportunity to find lost packages, this is a massive and necessary improvement. There are better brooms in the game, but the Basic Broom is, undeniably, functional. There’s no sparkle or pizzazz to it and you probably won’t win any races (the Churo Express Uniform will have to wait for another day), but it does its job, and it does it relatively well.

The Light Broom is where things really start to improve regarding the flying gameplay. Although you can’t brave every wind current and every tornado, Mika can now effectively do her job as the delivery girl. She’s faster, can fly higher, and can pick up three packages all at once. If you have your heart set on returning all the lost items before the end of the game, then you should wait until you have access to the Light Broom to do this.

The Witch’s Broom is the fastest of them all and can hold everything your heart could possibly desire (it’s almost too much, you might feel).

This final broom is necessary to ascend the mountain and reach the end of the story. Of course, even after you ascend, you can equip this broom and explore anything and everything, unrestricted by inaccessible wind currents or tornados. The world is your oyster, and you are free to explore every inch of it with the Witch’s Broom. This broom makes finishing the game and getting that highly sought after completionist badge all the easier.
