Summary
- Customize difficulty settings for a tailored experience.
- Use headphones for crucial stealth advantage.
- Locate workbenches for weapon upgrades and find high points for enemy marking.
Sniper Elite: Resistance is a spinoff from the series with a new/old character. In co-op missions, mainstay hero Karl Fairburne was assisted by Harry Hawker. Now, Harry has his own game, in which he is helping a resistance in France take out Nazis one mission at a time.
True to the series, Sniper Elite: Resistance doesn’t have a lot of story beyond that setup. Harry does talk a lot during missions though, and sometimes he can be quite witty after a kill. Setups aside, there are a lot of things players should be aware of in terms of gameplay before they jump into this latest World War 2 stealth game.

Adjusting The Difficulty
Know Your Limits
The first step players should take in any game is adjusting the options. Sniper Elite: Resistance has quite an assortment of difficulty options, including Civilian, Cadet, Sharpshooter, Sniper Elite, and Authentic. Players can customize their bars to their liking too, depending on how much of a one-man army they want Harry to act like.
In addition to difficulty, players can also tinker with the X-ray frequency of kills from shots fired to melee attacks. Some players might want to see the teeth of enemies explode out of their skulls every time, while others may feel it will get in the way. Also, turning off player invasions can help reduce stress. These are all options to keep in mind.

Wear Headphones
Listen For Those Goose Stepping Nazis
This is an absolute must for this game, as stealth is important to a successful mission. Players can get an advantage if they can hear enemies nearby, from footsteps, to coughs, to in-depth conversations that could clue them into secrets. By this point in the generation, everyone should have a decent pair of headphones for their console of choice.

Sniper Elite Resistance: All Mission 2 Collectible Locations (Dead Drop)
This guide will make it easy for players to find all 20 collectibles in Dead Drop, the second mission in Sniper Elite: Resistance.
Admittedly, players could go whole hog into a mission and spray the battlefield with bullets, but that’s not the point of the game. It’s worth a shot, just for fun, if players want to replay a mission from different angles.
5
Locate Workbenches
Get Silencers Equipped
Workbenches can be used before a mission to prepare Harry’s inventory, or they can be found in the middle of a mission. Locating them in the mission can be tricky, but that’s where exploration comes into play in this mini open-world environment. Players will have more options depending on what they have found in the level so far or unlocked through gameplay.
If players can help it, they should attach silencers to their pistols and sniper rifles in Sniper Elite: Resistance. The machine gun sidearm isn’t that necessary, but the rifle is an absolute must to take down enemies in the most brutal ways possible.
4
Head To Higher Areas ASAP
Light Up Nazi Locations
The opening mission starts Sniper Elite: Resistance with the player far above all enemies, overlooking the occupied dam. This is a great way for players to scope out the land with their binoculars and mark enemies in Sniper Elite: Resistance.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen often. For most other missions, players have to find higher elevation themselves. This is a must, because getting the lay of the land will help players sneak around enemies more easily without getting spotted. So, if possible, head to a tower, rooftop, bluff, or other high point at the start of a mission and take some time to highlight enemies.
3
Move And Observe
Use Your Environment
Marking enemies can only do so much, because Nazis are practically hiding everywhere. A slow and steady pace will win the race while sneaking around. Hide behind walls and manipulate the camera to check for patrols. Players can also use the photo mode to manipulate the camera further as a secret cheat.
Using tall grass while crouched or in the prone position is also a good strategy, and whistling enemies into these areas can be beneficial for melee kills. Lastly, hide bodies if they are in an obvious place. Players can also use bodies to lure enemies close to their position.
2
Locate Noisy Areas
From Generators To Waterfalls
If players cannot silence their sniper rifle, then there are other ways to mask noise. The opening mission is a good example, because players can head to a lower part of the dam and mask their rifle shots over running water. There’s also a generator plant that muffles the sound well.

Players can see their shots are hidden by a reverberating bar in the top middle of their HUD. If they are well-hidden, then players can start popping off shots like they are in an arcade.
1
Save Often
Setting Up The Perfect Kill
Like the Hitman series, Sniper Elite: Resistance allows players to save scum as much as they like. As players sneak around, they should save before planning an attack and be sure to swap between multiple save files too. An enemy may look vulnerable and easy to take out, but players never know when another could be hiding nearby. It defeats the realism of the situation, so players don’t have to save every few seconds, but it’s a good strategy to prevent Game Over. When it comes to defeating the Nazi regime, every tactic available should be used, even if it is cheap.
