Rebellion Developments’ Sniper Elite: Resistance is now available as a day one release for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The third-person tactical shooter set in Vichy, France, follows Special Operations Executive Harry Hawker and his experience in World War 2. His story in Sniper Elite: Resistance takes place in parallel to the events of 2022’s Sniper Elite 5, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can check it out beginning on January 30.
As the franchise name suggests, the Sniper Elite games focus on sniping, and the developer has therefore iteratively improved upon that mechanic with each new release. The games also emphasize stealth and tactical combat, and also offer weapon customization and different types of side missions like kill targets. This latest title from Rebellion Developments features a campaign for solo or online co-op play, as well as 16-player online competitive multiplayer and Invasion, an asymmetrical multiplayer mode that was first introduced in Sniper Elite 5.

For fans of the Sniper Elite series who maybe want a little bit more, there is also a Sniper Elite: Resistance Deluxe Edition available for purchase. It will include Season Pass content that is slated to release later this year. There is also a physical edition for those who prefer to have a non-digital copy of the tactical shooter.
So far, January has been an exciting month for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, both Standard and Ultimate. One of the more noteworthy additions was Ninja Gaiden 2: Black, which surprise launched on Game Pass on January 23, alongside the announcement that Ninja Gaiden 4 will be available to subscribers on day one when it releases this Fall 2025. On January 28, Eternal Strands, the long-awaited third-person action-adventure experience from Yellow Brick Games, also joined the robust selection of titles available to Ultimate subscribers on launch day.
Though the full list of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass in February 2025 hasn’t yet been revealed, subscribers are particularly looking forward to one highly anticipated game slated for release on February 18. Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed, which has been in development since 2018, will finally launch as a day one title on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for PC and console.
