If you thought the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 price announced at CES 2025 was eye-watering, wait until you see what Asus has to offer. The company has just announced prices for its RTX 5090 and 5080 graphics cards, and some of them will demand a fat wallet.
The RTX 5090 price is already high at $1,999, but if you want a fancy model of the new Nvidia flagship, you’re going to have to pay even more. In fact, one Asus model of the very best graphics card available will cost over three grand.
Indeed, Asus has announced that its top-end RTX 5090 will cost $3,099. That’s a dramatic increase of $1,100 over Nvidia’s Founders Edition card, even with the additional bells and whistles Asus has brought to its high-end variation.
The $3,099 ROG Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition is not just a tongue twister, but it also packs in some meaty hardware for its extravagant price tag. As with the RTX 4090 version, this is a liquid-cooled GPU, with a 360mm radiator to pack into your case. It’s also overclocked, so it should boast a little more performance than the regular RTX 5090.
The rest of Asus’ RTX 5000 pricing is significantly higher than Nvidia’s pricing as well. This isn’t a new phenomenon, as partner boards have typically been more expensive in recent years. However, even Asus’ lowest-end 5090, from its TUF line, is still $300 more expensive than Nvidia’s FE card. Asus says it will have a special launch price at the MSRP of $1,999, but will then rocket back up to $2,299.99.
Even the RTX 5080 is more expensive than what Nvidia originally announced. The $999 price tag on the Founders Edition will only apply to early pricing to the Asus Prime, non-overclocked model. After that, it will go back to $1,149.99.
