Throughout the One Piece franchise, few events have the same importance for the overall story as God Valley. Although this island has been kept a secret from most people for years, the events connected to its disappearance 38 years ago have reverberated throughout the world and are still being felt today, primarily because God Valley involved some of the most important and powerful characters in the history of the setting.
As such, when these legendary warriors were pitted against each other, it led to quite a few battles. These battles were contests between some of the most celebrated or notorious characters in all of One Piece, who all fought in the prime of their lives. So, in this article, let’s go over the many likely battles that took place in God Valley and see why these are among the most important fights in the entire series.

The Most Important Fight Of Them All

The Rocks Pirates |
The events of God Valley were incredibly important because of all the parties that were interested in being there. Rocks went there to reclaim his lost treasure, Roger went to face Rocks, and Garp was there to finally capture Roger. Such a massive dispute between conflicting parties is the primary reason why the events of God Valley are so important, since many theories even stem from here.
He was Roger’s first foe… and perhaps his greatest…
The most powerful of these factions was undoubtedly the Rocks Pirates, who were led by the legendary man implied to be the strongest pirate of his time. Knowing just how powerful of an enemy Rocks was, Roger and Garp were both forced to work together to bring him down, which already shows that the man definitely lives up to his legend. Though this is never outright stated, it’s heavily implied since the Navy under Garp and the Roger Pirates are said to have joined forces for a temporary alliance to stop Rocks at God Valley.
Whitebeard vs. St. Figarland Garling
A Legendary Fight Happening on the Side
Whitebeard’s Affiliation |

Garling’s Affiliation |
The Gods’ Knights |
Although Roger and Garp’s fight against Rocks is the one that’s spoken about the most, the greatest battle after that is thought to be Whitebeard vs. Figarland Garling. This was first teased in Chapter 434 during the meeting of Shanks and Whitebeard, where the latter stated that every time he sees the young Yonko, his scars ache upon remembering ‘him’, who people always thought to be Roger. However, it is now all but confirmed to have been Shanks’ father, St. Figarland Garling.
When I look at your face, it makes my scars ache. The scars I got from ‘him’…
This works perfectly because it is known that both Whitebeard and Garling were present on the island during the God Valley Incident and were even on opposing sides, with the former being the second-in-command of the Rocks Pirates and the latter being the Supreme Commander of the Gods’ Knights. It is likely in this altercation that Whitebeard got his iconic scars and even probably gave a few to his enemy in the process. Since this is likely true, it would mean that Garling is as strong as Whitebeard and Roger.

Rayleigh And Gaban vs. Kaido And Big Mom
A Battle Of Seconds
It’s common knowledge that everyone involved in the God Valley Incident was a heavy hitter and among the most important players in the entire world. However, there were still a few match-ups that were more important than others, such as Roger and Garp vs. Rocks or Whitebeard vs. Garling. This leaves many other people who likely went up against one another, with the most probable of them being the collective forces of Rayleigh and Scopper going up against Kaido and Big Mom.
Let this dreary world be destroyed! Let’s start the greatest war this planet has ever seen!
Although Kaido was much younger in those days and not nearly as strong as the others in his base form, God Valley was where he ate his Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, which would definitely have allowed him to close the gap somewhat. Seeing Rayleigh and Scopper team up against Kaido and Big Mom serves as the perfect parallel to the other fights going on at the same time by seeing the role each person had in their respective crews.
Roger Pirates vs. Rocks Pirates vs. Forces Of The World Government
The Greatest Free-For-All In History
The most incredible thing about the God Valley Incident was that there were various parties involved who all had their own agendas. Because of this, the main conflict on this island had to do with each of these parties vying to win, and since the main characters from each of these factions were likely preoccupied with their own fights, the brunt of their forces were kept busy fighting each other.
It’s known that the Gods’ Knights were all present here, so it’s very likely that they fought against the remaining legends from the Rocks Pirates, which also included some other incredibly powerful pirates such as Golden Shiki in its ranks as well. While, at the same time, the members of the Roger Pirates, other than Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban, were likely fighting off the powerful Marines who accompanied Garp to the island while their commanders were stuck in the aforementioned battles of their own. The possibilities are almost endless.
