Cryo is the lifeblood of Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector. Not only will you need it to achieve a wide spectrum of goals, but completing contracts, and keeping your sleeper healthy, all have an associated cost. Thankfully, you’ll have a wide variety of opportunities to acquire this cryptocurrency of the future, and we’ve got the inside scoop on how to do just that.

This guide will cover the basics of how you’ll obtain Cryo Chits throughout your journey. We’ll give you the lowdown on where you’ll need to go, and how you can build a small fortune (even when it is not worth doing).
Your Ship Can Passively Earn You Cryo Chits
By selecting the “Odd Jobs” option, you’ll have a chance of acquiring a small amount of Cryo every time you complete a cycle. However, it is worth noting that the sum you’ll gain is pretty paltry. Unless you are full-up of Supplies, you’re probably better off chasing after the chance of getting them (as they are worth 15 chits a piece).
Acquire Chits By Working Jobs Around Each Space Station
One of the most consistent ways to earn chits is to find the odd job that your class excels at. As an example, at the Hexport Station, you’ll be able to engage in Freight Loading, Data Defusal, and Scrapyard work. Each of these jobs favors skills that one of the three classes will be proficient in.
Freight Loading requires Endure, which favores the Extractor, Data Defusal utilizes the Interface skill, which is the domain of the Operator, and Scrapyard work is an Engineer-based task, which is the Machinist’s domain. All these jobs will get you a little over 10 chits if you earn a positive result, which should be fairly easy given how they favor each class. Every space station will have an odd job or two that you’ll be able to do to earn some quick money.
Even if this isn’t your primary means of earning funds, it is definitely something you should use those spare dice for. Remember, your energy is replenished when you set off for a contract, so, if you have remaining energy, you may as well spend a few days working some of these jobs and acquiring funds.
Complete Contracts To Earn Cryo
This is a nebulous one, as contracts will often yield big rewards, but there can be a number of hidden costs as well. Everything from the cost of the contract, to the cost of supplies, to the potential repair costs you’ll have to pay if your dice get damaged.
So, make sure to factor all of that in when taking on a contract. Of course, contracts often come with other benefits as well, so money isn’t the sole cause for taking them in the first place, but if you are locked in on trying to scrape together Cryo, you’ll want to consider those hidden costs.
It is worth noting that some contracts have additional ways to secure funds, often by collecting scrap. However, these bonus opportunities are often accompanied by a risk of some sort. So tread carefully.
Your Wealth Will Often Reflect Your Morality
This is another aspect of the game that you will need to keep in check: sometimes you’ll need to make choices that will potentially help you hold on to your money but at the cost of your morality. One of the first decisions you’ll be faced with is whether you should give Nia a share of your earnings. You can choose to refuse, but if you do so, you’ll lose a companion. Honestly, she’s worth the 50 Chits.
More often than not, greed doesn’t really benefit you, unless, that is, you are just having fun being a heartless bastard. At this point, you will be able to greedily a number of NPCs during your quest – often at the cost of obtaining companions.
Don’t misconstrue this as me saying that doing the “right” thing is always beneficial. Paying for the Feed Lines in the first chapter will see you lose the 400 Cryo Chits and a crewmate. You are most certainly better off stealing them (don’t worry, Karsten has it coming). So, use your best judgment.
