Updated January 30, 2025: We’ve added a few more Gundam games to this list.

Gundam Breaker 3
Gundam Breaker 3 is a hack-and-slash action RPG all about building your own custom Gunpla kit. Set within the video game world of Gunpla Battle, you can fight against mobile suits from across most Gundam series, breaking off their parts to build your own perfect Gunpla model.
Gundam Breaker 3 is for fans of not only the Gundam universe, but those who build the model kits as well. If you’ve ever even thought about customizing your Gunpla kits, Gundam Breaker 3 is the perfect game for you, as it’s all about doing just that.
9
SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays
Cross Rays is a tactical RPG featuring SD Gundam from the Wing, SEED, 00, and Iron-Blooded Orphans series. Battles take place on a grid in which you can deploy your mobile suits, and there are tons of high-quality attack animations, voice lines, and character cut-ins that make the battles feel more dynamic.
The game’s story is essentially a retelling of the aforementioned Gundam series, but with tons of side missions and extra content to explore along the way. There are dozens of mobile suits and pilots to collect and upgrade in Cross Rays, making it perfect for those that want to build up their Gundam arsenal.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeonic Front
Zeonic Front is a strategic third-person action game set during the One Year War of Gundam’s Universal Century. Rather than piloting a Gundam for the Earth Federation, you take control of the Midnight Fenrir Corps, a task force of the Principality of Zeon. The story features both new and retold versions of major points from the original Gundam series, from the side of Zeon.

The PS2 was one of the most iconic consoles around and featured an amazing lineup of exclusives. Here are some of the best!
Zeonic Front can be a very difficult game, because you don’t get the strongest mobile suits. The game does a very good job of making you feel what it probably felt like for the Zaku grunt pilots to face down the RX-78-2 in battle. However, when you do manage to take down the Gundam, the level of satisfaction you’ll feel is unmatched.
7
SD Gundam Battle Alliance
SD Gundam Battle Alliance is an action RPG featuring SD mobile suits from a variety of Gundam series, including the original, Thunderbolt, Unicorn, Turn A, and many more. Similar to Cross Rays, Battle Alliance’s story is mostly a retelling of the major points from each of the series involved, but with a few changes to keep things interesting.
Despite the chibi, SD art style, there are some great animated special attacks on display in this game, and there’s some surprisingly in-depth stat min-maxing available for the dedicated player. Battle Alliance is similar to Cross Rays in a lot of ways, but if you prefer action-based combat, this one is the way to go.
6
Gundam Breaker 4
After the disappointment that was New Gundam Breaker, Gundam Breaker 4 has returned the series to its former glory established in GB2 and GB3. For the most part, Gundam Breaker 4 is very similar to Gundam Breaker 3; head into battle, break off enemy mobile suit parts, then use them to craft your own custom model kit.

What sets Gundam Breaker 4 apart from its predecessors is its emphasis on deeper customization options. In the game, you can browse through other players’ creations, and the creativity on display is mind-boggling. If you want to make a Gundam that is 100 percent yours, Gundam Breaker 4 lets you do just that.
5
Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxiboost On
Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxiboost On is a 2v2 arena fighting game featuring mobile suits from dozens of Gundam titles. This fighting game has a surprising amount of depth, with its large number of playable mobile suits and input options.
Maxiboost On accurately captures the movement and animation of its mobile suits, portraying them exactly as they should be according to their original anime versions. Even if you’re not a fan of fighting games, there’s a fairly extensive single-player campaign to play through as well.
4
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 is a spin-off of the Dynasty Warriors series, and the third Gundam-themed game within that series. If you’re at all familiar with Dynasty Warriors or any of its many spin-off games, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting into with Gundam 3; that being fast-paced, hack-and-slash battles where you mow down thousands of grunts in a matter of minutes.
While most Dynasty Warriors games are focused on melee combat, Gundam 3, does let you use a few ranged attacks, although melee is definitely the priority. However, something to keep in mind is that this game heavily relies on you being familiar with a majority of past Gundam works. If you’re a long-time Gundam fan, you’ll definitely appreciate the crossovers and character interactions, though.
3
MS Saga: A New Dawn
MS Saga: A New Dawn is a turn-based RPG for the PS2 where you play as an orphan searching for a mysterious ‘Black Gundam’ that destroyed your orphanage. Despite the SD Gundam art style, there is a surprising amount of depth and detail to be found in this game.
Battles are turn-based and party-based, with up to six characters joining in battle; three in the active positions and three in reserve. As you explore and battle enemies, you’ll gain new parts that can be used to customize your mobile suits or even craft entirely new ones. There’s tons of customization options in MS Saga, and its difficult boss encounters will make you take advantage of each and every one of them.
2
Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation Vs. Zeon
Set during the One Year War, Federation Vs. Zeon puts you in the shoes of the grunts of the conflict. At the beginning of the story mode, you can choose to side with the Federation or Zeon, allowing you to experience both sides of the war through multiple playthroughs.
The story is relatively non-linear, with missions unlocking in groups at various stages which then let you see more of the story. What makes this game unique is how damage to your mobile suits carries over between missions. Repairing them takes time, so even when you eventually get to use the RX-78 Gundam, you won’t be able to take it into every single battle.
1
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy
Battle Operation Code Fairy is a story-based action game where each mission plays out like an anime episode, complete with an opening and ending and animated scenes throughout. You play as Alma, the new leader of a secret unit of Zeon soldiers, the Noisy Fairy.
For the most part, battles are fairly straightforward and don’t require too much skill or strategy, but they are enjoyable enough. Where Code Fairy really shines is its story. The main cast is likable, the scenes are very well done, and the story has decent twists and turns throughout. If you’re looking for a Gundam game with an emphasis on an all-original story, Code Fairy is the one to play.
