Netflix has finally revealed the official release date for the third and final season of Squid Game. However, that is not the only thing the streaming platform has unveiled about the upcoming season. Alongside the announcement, Netflix has also released exclusive first-look photos, offering chilling hints about who survived the deadly ending of Season 2.

The cliffhanger ending of Squid Game season 2 took everyone by storm and might have divided fans. One thing is for sure—fans are eagerly awaiting the third season’s arrival on the streaming platform, and want to know who survived Season 2. In the end, viewers saw a deadly battle between the players and the guards. A lot of people died in the battle, but eventually, the Front Man and his guards won, killing several players who joined Seong Gi-hun’s rebellion. However, fans never got to see whether the remaining players survived the competition. Now, the first-look photos of Season 3 have finally revealed who made it through and will return for the final chapter.

Squid Game Season 3 Release Date Officially Unveiled

Netflix has finally unveiled the release date for the third and final season of Squid Game, and it’s coming sooner than expected.

In the photos shared by the official Twitter handle of Squid Game, it has been confirmed that Seong Gi-hun has survived the competition and has now been taken into captivity. The photo features Gi-hun, aka Player 456 (played by Lee Jung-jae), handcuffed to the side of what looks like a bunk bed, with his green jumpsuit covered in blood. Meanwhile, the second photo reveals that Hyun-Ju (Player 120), Yong-Sik (Player 007), Geum-Ja (Player 149), and Jun-Hee (Player 222) are still alive and a part of the game. On the other hand, in the same photo, fans can also spot Dae-Ho (Player 388) in the back. As per the photos, many prominent players of Season 2 are still in the game and a part of it. It is yet to be seen if Gyeong-Seok (Player 246) and Myung-Gi (Player 333) are still alive or not. Conversely, the other two photos featured The Front Man in his iconic black mask and No-Eul, aka Guard 011, looking at someone.

The highly anticipated photos have finally given fans a sigh of relief that some players did survive the game and will feature in the upcoming edition. These images tease the fate of familiar faces. It is already confirmed that Season 3 will introduce new characters, adding fresh dynamics and even more unpredictability to the game. With a mix of returning survivors and mysterious new contestants, the final season promises to be the most intense and emotionally charged yet. As the stakes get higher, alliances will be tested, betrayals will unfold, and the game’s dark secrets may finally come to light.

The creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has already made it clear that Season 3 will have more twists and turns compared to the first two editions. Moreover, the Red Light, Green Light game will once again return to the Squid Game universe and feature two dolls this time around. The photos shared by Netflix also reveal that it would be an emotional chapter as well. In one of the pictures, Player 120, and other remaining players can be seen looking inside a coffin and breaking down. It is possible that they saw the body of one of their close allies and the devastating loss serves as a brutal reminder that no one is truly safe in the game. Their grief and shock hint at an emotional turning point, where survival is no longer just about strategy—it’s about enduring unimaginable loss while facing the cruel reality of the competition.

The first two seasons of Squid Game are available on Netflix, while Season 3 will arrive on Netflix on June 27, 2025.
