Summary
- Nintendo Switch Online is raising prices in Latin America.
- The upcoming price hikes, which range between 11% and 25%, will go into effect on March 1.
Nintendo Switch Online is reportedly becoming more expensive in Latin America. While geographically limited, the price hike itself is understood to be significant, with exact increases varying across Nintendo Switch Online membership tiers.
Nintendo’s subscription service will celebrate its seventh anniversary in September 2025. Since its 2018 release, Nintendo Switch Online has been priced at approximately $20 per year, depending on the exact region. A more expensive tier of the service called NSO + Expansion Pack was launched in October 2021, priced in the ballpark of $50 per year. Although Nintendo has raised NSO prices over the years, such adjustments were infrequent and never global. For example, as of early 2025, U.S. consumers can still purchase either membership tier at its original price.

The list of countries that will be affected by the price adjustment reportedly includes Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
Nintendo Switch Online Prices Reportedly Rising by up to 25%
The rate of the newly announced price hikes seems to differ across countries and Nintendo Switch Online membership tiers. Over in Brazil, the basic NSO plan for a single account is said to be getting 20% more expensive, with its new price amounting to R$120 (~USD $20). Meanwhile, the NSO + Expansion Pack individual membership will be marked up by 14%, Omelete reports. Consumers in affected countries have until February 28 to buy or renew their memberships at current prices. Nintendo allows users to prepay for up to three years’ worth of its subscription service. The March 2025 price hike will be the second time in five years that NSO becomes more expensive in select Latin American countries.
It’s currently unclear whether these changes signal a broader price hike being on the horizon. Even before its official reveal, the Switch 2 was confirmed to offer Nintendo Switch Online support, sparking speculation that the service’s price could increase by the time the new console hits the market.
