When you finish the main quest in Tails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winter there’s still more to enjoy, even if you’ve already completed the early-game Beast Hunts and side quests. Once you’ve completed the final boss fight on Mount Cauldron, you can turn your attention to hunting down another threat: the Sky Scorchers.

Learn how to defend yourself from the monsters roaming the land.
If you were paying attention during the main story, then you know Sky Scorchers are the large bat-like mounts used by high-ranking members of the bat army, like Count Kazak. You briefly fight these creatures during the assault on Mount Cauldron, but they’ve escaped and continue to terrorize the land even after you’ve defeated the Darkwings.
How To Start Scorch The Outskirts
After you complete The Fellowship Of The Wing, finishing the main quest, a new Beast Hunt called Scorch the Outskirts will become available to you.
Approach The Elder at Mossbug Farm in The Outskirts, and you’ll hear about a Sky Scorcher that has made its home to the rightmost section of The Outskirts.
As you did in prior Beast Hunts, fast-travel to Highland View to accelerate the hunt and stop at the merchant if you need to stock up on anything.
How To Defeat The Sky Scorcher
Once you’re ready, head to the right where you’ll find the Sky Scorcher.
Avoid its massive icy tail attack and pepper the Sky Scorcher with ranged shots until it lands.
Its landing presents a huge opportunity to unleash electric and poison attacks – zeroing in on the Sky Scorcher’s weaknesses.
As with most Beast Hunts, the Sky Scorcher will retreat at roughly 33 percent HP gone, and won’t take additional damage even if you hit it more.
Follow the Sky Scorcher’s next marked location on your map.
How To Beat The Sky Scorcher Phase Two
Dodge its fire breath and ice tail attacks again while dishing out as much melee damage while the tail isn’t attacking you.
If the Sky Scorcher is hovering above while using its fire breath, hit it with your Electric Elementa to damage and stun it, sending it crashing to the ground.
At 66 percent HP gone, the Sky Scorcher will flee a second time, now seeking refuge at the Ruins Of Long Fang Castle where you previously fought the Bird Beast. Go there now.
How To Beat The Sky Scorcher Phase Three
Fast travel to the ruins and up the ladder to the upper cliff where, puzzlingly, you’ll find a Bird Beast, but don’t worry – this is intended.
Use ice and electric attacks to dispatch the Bird Beast quickly, but save your Electric and Poison Elementa for the Sky Scorcher.
Once the Sky Scorcher appears, it will hover and bombard you with attacks from above, including icy explosions that burst from the ground – prepare to dodge a lot while you wait for openings.
In between dodging, unload your ranged electric attacks to bring the Sky Scorcher down, ending the difficult back-to-back battles against flying foes.
What Rewards Do You Get From Scorch The Outskirts?
Interact with the egg in the nest, and you’ll receive the Red Sky Scorcher Egg, completing the quest and earning the achievement/trophy for finishing all the Beast Hunts for the Mossbug Farm Elder.
You’ll also earn the following crafting materials:
- 35 Gold
- One Scorcher Snout
- One Scorcher Tail Spike
- Two Scorcher Ears
- Two Scorcher Fangs
- Four Scorcher Talons
- Five Scorcher Fur
With that, you can return to other areas like the Rift to engage in similar Sky Scorcher hunts.
