In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, dungeons are one of the best ways to gain experience and collect new items. Unlocked in Chapter 3, after you create an Explorer, these dungeons are created by using maps you can receive as loot or find in certain stages.
Once you’ve got access to an Explorer and a map in hand, you can create and name Dungeons to explore. Dungeons in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero are multi-floor combat encounters that will not heal your party between fights, so it’s important to bring healing and MP-restoring units with you. Progressing through the dungeon will let you collect items, earn experience, and improve the title assigned to the dungeon, which will in-turn strengthen items and enemies inside the dungeon.

How to Create Dungeons
Once you gain the Explorer in Chapter 3, creating an Explorer will unlock the Create Dungeon facility. This facility allows you to turn maps you’ve collected into Dungeons, with the type of dungeon created determined by the map and your Explorer’s level. In the example video and the image shown above, you can see the Pen Island Map being used to create a dungeon with Lv 22 enemies and six floors. It’s important to note that the Enemy Lv. shown is the level of enemies on the final floor of the Dungeon.
When choosing a map to use, these are the factors you should consider. The Map Type will determine the terrain and the enemy types seen, while the items section shows the items you’re likely to find while exploring and the reward offered on completion. The Map Rarity, meanwhile, determines the rarity and level of items found, the number of floors, and the level of enemies on the last floor.
When you create a dungeon, you can choose a name for it. This will become the title found on all enemies in the dungeon and items rewarded by the dungeon, which we’ll explain in more detail in the next section.
Dungeon Titles, Explained
Dungeon Titles are created along with the dungeon itself and provide stat modifiers and effects like any other title. The rarity of the map used will determine the rarity of the title, with rarer maps creating rarer and stronger titles. The dungeon’s title will become stronger with each floor of the dungeon you complete, which will, in turn, strengthen the enemies in the dungeon and the items rewarded by it. Since this makes the dungeon more difficult but also makes it more rewarding, it’s well worth the trouble.
