A new content update for Gran Turismo 7 has just been released. Update 1.55 not only adds new cars and events to Gran Turismo 7, but makes some important changes to the circuit racer’s physics as well.
Ever since Gran Turismo 7‘s early 2022 launch, developer Polyphony Digital has consistently provided free content updates to players on a near-monthly basis. These updates are often modest in size, adding three to four cars and a handful of new events. However, Gran Turismo 7 occasionally receives big updates that offer a greater list of cars, physics changes, new in-game features, and sometimes a new racetrack as well. The last big Gran Turismo 7 update came in November 2024, notably offering five new cars and PS5 Pro enhancements.

Every Gran Turismo Game, Ranked
The very best Gran Turismo games helped to define and redefine the racing sim genre, but some merely toed the line. Here, we rank every mainline game.
Weighing in at 2.47GB on PS5 and 2.78GB on PS4, Gran Turismo 7‘s latest 1.55 update brings four new cars, namely the 1987 Honda Civic (EF) Si Extra, 2018 Toyota C-HR S, 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5N, and the Gran Turismo F3500-A open-wheel racer. Moreover, there are three new races in the World Circuits section of Gran Turismo 7, a new Extra Menu Book centered around Group C racing cars, new engine swaps, and a fresh “Chromatic Drive” Scapes curation. The Gran Turismo Sophy AI model has also been extended to two additional circuits – Mount Panorama and Interlagos – for a total of 17 out of 39 racetracks supported.
Interestingly, Update 1.55 introduces a host of physics changes to Gran Turismo 7, particularly surrounding the game’s tire and suspension models. Suspension setups on Gran Turismo 7 cars will supposedly react to short period bumps, the tire loading and grip loss in wet and dirty conditions have been tweaked, and tires will shed dirt quicker after off-track deviations. Polyphony Digital has also made adjustments to steering geometry, traction control, and ABS intervention strength. Gran Turismo 7 last received a physics overhaul as part of Update 1.49 in July 2024, so it should be interesting to see how the changes in Update 1.55 will compare.
Gran Turismo 7 remains one of the most realistic racing games ever made, and Polyphony Digital’s commitment to bolstering it with free content is commendable. Alongside supporting Gran Turismo 7, the Tokyo-based studio is chipping away at the next Gran Turismo game, which might show up at the very end of the PS5’s lifecycle.
