Xbox has officially confirmed that one of the latest games in its flagship racing series, Forza Horizon 5, is making the jump over to PlayStation later this year.
Over the past few years, Microsoft and Xbox have been going through some undeniably huge changes. Not only did Microsoft change the face of the gaming industry with the purchase of Activision Blizzard, but it also started completely changing the way it views Xbox as a console. Nowhere has that been clearer than with its library of first-party games.

It’s time for the beloved racing series to evolve on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Last year saw four fairly small Xbox exclusives, including Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, and Pentiment leave Xbox and come to PlayStation and Switch. From there, it seems that Xbox has given up on the idea of exclusives, as many of its games are said to be coming to PlayStation in the future. Well, we now know for sure that one more is coming.
Forza Horizon 5 Drifts Over To PS5 In Spring 2025
That game is none other than Forza Horizon 5, the latest game in Xbox’s flagship racing series if you don’t count the mainline Motorsport reboot that released a while back. The news was officially confirmed over on the Forza Horizon 5 website, which cutely pointed out that “The Horizon Festival welcomes a new community of players”.
Alongside confirming the news, the blog post on the Forza Horizon website confirms that the port is being developed by Panic Button in partnership with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. It’ll have crossplay and the exact same content as the Xbox and PC versions of Forza Horizon 5, which should come as no surprise.
That isn’t all, though, as the blog post announced that a “special new free content update” is coming to all platforms in the form of Horizon Realms. Realms lets players explore their favourite previously released Evolving Worlds, as well as experience some “other surprises”. More details on the mode are coming in the future.
While Forza Horizon 5 isn’t quite on the level of games like Halo and Gears of War when it comes to first-party Xbox games, it is pretty damn close to those two. Its arrival on PS5 later this year should make it very clear for everyone in the back that all bets are off when it comes to Xbox’s first-party lineup coming to other consoles.
