Everything You Need To Know About The Wellspring In Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector

During your time drifting through the galaxy in Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, there are a number of space stations you can, more or less, skip right past. That is not the case when it comes to the Wellspring. This massive water manufacturing system is one of the most pivotal locations in the game.

Get your neuralware tech equipped because your next cyberpunk adventure awaits!

Not only is it where you’ll need to go in order to complete a major Drive, but it is also where you’ll acquire the oh-so-important HazNav ship upgrade. You’ll find yourself traveling along one of two narrative paths once you land on the Wellspring. We’ll take both of them down. Tell you what you can potentially miss, and help you make the best choices possible.

The Wellspring Cut

Citizen Sleeper 2. The Wellspring Station.

Getting things started, you’re going to need to chase after Sarafin who’s on a bit of a rampage. Your only option is to work your way through the “in the cut” objective in the Wellspring Cut. Eventually, once you have fully completed the in the cut objective, you’re going to come face to face with the muscle-bound Kirk. That is where two branching paths will present themselves.

Finding the Rime Market can be quite expensive. Every Negative roll in the Chasm Row will cost you 8 Cryo.

Talk to Kirk after Sarafin storms off, and he’ll present you with the Lotic Pass. Now, you can either head over to the Lotic Operations, and try to negotiate a meeting, and side with the corporate overlords, or you can head to the Wellspring Pithead, use the Lotic Pass to gain entry, and side with the workers. We’ll cover both options in detail below.

Siding With The Lotic

If you are siding with the Lotic, then you’ll need to negotiate a meeting, which is an Engage check. This is what Sarafin thinks is best, at least in the beginning.

Following this option will unlock the Debris Field Contract. Partway through the contract, Tala will reach out to you. She’ll try to convince you to turn back. You can either talk sense into Sarafin and get him to abandon the mission, or be the devil on his shoulder, and convince him to push forward with it.

Either way, the end result is that once you return to the Wellspring your ship will be fully refueled, you’ll complete the Help Sarafin’s Sister Drive, and gain two skill points. The primary difference is how badly strained Sarafin and Tala’s relationship will be (if you see the mission through, things will be tense).

Siding With The Wellspring Workers

Citizen Sleeper 2. Kirk bathed in an orange light standing in front of the Wellspring.

Siding with the workers will require that you first use the Lotic Pass to enter the Wellspring Pithead. Once you do, you’ll be able to enter the Pithead Canteen, where you can get a free meal. You’ll also have access to an Engage-based odd job at the Pithead Canteen, and an Endure-based job at the Wellspring Shaft. However, the primary goal will be heading to the Wellspring Shaft and searching for Luz.

Don’t push your luck too far with the sneak a meal option at the Pithead Canteen. If you get kicked out, you will lock yourself out of pursuing this path.

Once you have located Lux, talk to her, and just as you are about to break her out, a strike will start, and Kirk will come find you. You’re now going to have to complete the Headstream Contract in order to break Lux (also known as Tala) free.

Concluding The Contract And Freeing Tala

Citizen Sleeper 2. Tala standing in front of the Wellspring.

While you’ll get to this point via a variety of different ways, the end result will be the same (at least in the short term). You will be rewarded with two skill points for completing the Drive, the HazNav ship upgrade, and fuel. Despite what you may have hoped, you will not be able to recruit either Kirk or Tala at this point, and once you leave, you won’t be able to return right away (as there will be a blockade in place). The long-term difference between these paths is how your relationship with Tala, Kirk, and Malik is affected.
