Valorant is a free-to-play tactical first-person hero shooter by Riot Games, creators of League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and League of Legends: Wild Rift. Its story is set in the future after an event known as the First Light affected the Earth, granting several people superhuman abilities and creating a resource known as Radianite.
You can form a team of five and will be assigned to either attack the opposing team’s site by detonating a spike or defending against them. The characters, known as agents, are able to fight mirror versions of themselves from another dimension known as Omega Earth, who’ve invaded Alpha Earth to steal its Radianite.

Astra
Ghanaian agent Efia Danso, codename: Astra, is one of the many Radiants in Valorant, individuals that possess hypernatural abilities after exposure to the First Light. As such, Astra can enter an Astral Form where she can control the stars and use them to reshape the terrain.
Before joining the Valorant Protocol, the organization whose mission is to stop any further catastrophic events involving Radianite, Astra served as an astral guardian, which she still does to this day, tasked with maintaining the balance of the universe. The true extent of her powers is astronomical, which is why she wears a special gauntlet to contain them.
Breach
Erik Torsten, codename: Breach, comes from a family of thieves in Sweden, set to be convicted for all of their crimes. However, as he was born without arms, the judge pitied him and gave him a lighter sentence.
With his newfound freedom, he built himself bionic arms and returned to his old criminal ways, which soon led to him needing to go into hiding and ultimately meeting Raze, who was able to enhance his arms. Not long after, he was recruited by the Valorant Protocol, where all his records were sealed in exchange for serving in the organization.
Brimstone
Hailing from the USA, Liam Byrne, codename: Brimstone, is the leader and one of the founders of the Valorant Protocol, as well as a father figure to some of the younger agents. He served as a former firefighter and soldier before retiring following the death of his close friend, and joining the Kingdom Corporation, an organization that seeks to harness the power of Radianite for technological advancement.
After the First Light, he left Kingdom and founded the Valorant Protocol along with his co-employees, Viper, Killjoy, and Omen. There, he sought to recruit more agents to join their cause and prevent more Radianite-related disasters from taking place.
Chamber
French agent Vincent Fabron, codename: Chamber, is a man of immense wealth and style. Prior to joining the Valorant Protocol, he was well-versed in the art of weaponry, having served in the French military before becoming a private military company marksman and, later, a weapons dealer for Kingdom.
Driven by an intense desire to achieve his goals, he was able to meet his Omega counterpart, which led to them destroying a research facility now known as the map Fracture. He was recruited into the Valorant Protocol by Brimstone and Viper shortly after, where he was able to provide blueprints that led to the construction of an Alpha-Omega teleporter.
Clove
As Valorant’s first immortal character, Clove was a complete mystery to veteran agents like Cypher and Brimstone. When Omen was on a mission in Edinburgh, he contacted Cypher saying he had found someone they’d like to meet. Sure enough, when the team visited the city, they brought Clove into the fold.
From the voice lines, it seems Clove has met their Omega counterpart, and either proposed or was proposed to join forces. However, one declined the offer, though it’s unclear which party was hesitant. Regardless, they’re now a dedicated member of the Protocol, constantly using their abundant Life Energy to aid allies.
Cypher
The Moroccan information broker Amir El Amari, codename: Cypher, grew up in a poor city due to Kingdom Corporation stealing their resources. He then went on to become a one-man surveillance network, constantly gathering intel and recording his enemies’ every move.

Having kept so many secrets, he set up multiple safe houses to store his work and stay hidden, never going out without his mask. Even after being recruited by the Valorant Protocol, he still refuses to reveal his identity, along with all of his secrets.
Deadlock
Known only by the mononym “Iselin,” Deadlock worked as an elite hunter from the security force Ståljeger, who have been tasked to assist in the transport of a Radiant bear-like creature. A series of events led to the bear escaping and killing most of the people involved, including Deadlock’s comrades.
After successfully subduing the bear and losing an arm in the process, she was rescued by Sova, who brought her back to the Valorant Protocol for treatment. Now, with a new bionic arm, she joined the organization with a newfound hate towards Radiant creatures, including Gekko’s pets.
Fade
Hazal Eyletmez, codename: Fade, is a Radiant from Turkey and a bounty hunter who can manipulate the power of nightmares. Little is known about her other than the fact that her abilities allow her to creep into the minds of her enemies and unleash their darkest fears.
A misunderstanding between her and the Valorant Protocol led to them tracking her down after receiving a series of threats. Initially thinking that the organization was involved in the disappearance of someone important to her, Fade decided to work with the Protocol if it meant being closer to uncovering the truth.
Gekko
From the city of Los Angeles, Mateo Armendáriz De la Fuente, codename: Gekko, is the closest thing to being a Pokemon trainer in Valorant. He owns a cute little band of Radiant creatures, Dizzy, Mosh, Thrash, and Wingman, who were once previously owned by the Kingdom and who aid him in battle.
Gekko also has a Hispanic background, which allowed him to form a bond with the usually cold-hearted Reyna. He’s a supportive and chill dude who encourages his teammates and lightens up the mood no matter the situation.
Harbor
Varun Batra, codename: Harbor, used to serve as a task force agent for an organization that retrieves historical artifacts from the black market trade and returns them to their rightful owners. That all changed when Harbor was sent on a mission to Mumbai and got his hands on a bracelet that allowed him to manipulate and even summon water out of thin air.
He then left his organization upon learning that they wanted to grab hold of the artifact for their own personal use, which led to him being hunted down. Two months later, he was recruited into the Valorant Protocol, where they sought to find answers regarding the bracelet’s origin.
Iso
Li Zhao Yu, codename: Iso, is a Chinese hitman and Radiant. He’s able to reconfigure intangible Radianite energy and turn it into solid material in order to successfully carry out missions and wipe out his enemies.

Gaining the reputation of “Dead Lilac” and a “bulletproof wizard,” he worked as an assassin for the Scions of Hourglass, an organization that wanted to prevent the rediscovery of Radianite. He joined the Valorant Protocol due to his interest in the Scions’ former assassin, Ghost, who later turns out to be Omen.
Jett
Korean agent Han Sunwoo, codename: Jett, is the outgoing and competitive Radiant who’s able to harness the power of the wind. She worked as a chef, where her powers accidentally caused a storm that destroyed the whole establishment and led to her fleeing and being recruited by the Valorant Protocol.
During an incident that involved a part of Venice being blown up into the sky and creating the map known as Ascent, Jett was issued an arrest warrant, as the criminal looked exactly like her. It was then revealed that a mirror version of herself exists in a parallel world, which has since been referred to as Omega Earth.
KAY/O
KAY/O is a unique addition to the game’s lore, being a robot sent from an alternate future. He was created by that timeline’s humans for one purpose: to kill all Radiants in all-out war.
In his timeline, the Radiant Reyna led most of the atrocities against humans and was eventually eliminated by KAY/O after much loss. Seeking to travel back in time, he ended up in the present, where he was recruited as an agent in a reality where humans and Radiants lived in harmony.
Killjoy
Klara Böhringer, codename: Killjoy, is an inventor from Germany. She would later be nominated for the Distinguished Inventor Award and become Kingdom’s lead researcher and developer at 18.
After founding the Valorant Protocol along with Brimstone, she was able to create a spike diffuser on the spot that prevented another explosion attempt by their Omega counterparts. Later on, she would also invent a teleporter with the help of Chamber’s blueprints and Neon’s Radiant powers, which allowed them to travel to Omega Earth.
Neon
Tala Nicole Dimaapi Valdez, codename: Neon, hails from the Philippines and is a Radiant who possesses bioelectricity, allowing her to unleash electric charges and run extremely fast. At 19, she’s the youngest agent in the Valorant Protocol, as well as the only one in the game to have a confirmed age.
Despite her youth, she served as a veteran at Kingdom before being recruited by the Protocol. With her powerful yet uncontrollable electric abilities, she was able to power up an Alpha-Omega teleporter that allowed the organization to reach Omega Earth.
Omen
Omen might just be the most mysterious agent in the game. Before the release of Iso, there was little to no information regarding his background, not even his name, and even Omen himself remembers nothing about his life before becoming a phantom Radiant.
Related
Prior to founding the Valorant Protocol, Omen worked alongside Viper, the only link to his past, yet claims he knows nothing about it. After an incident that almost led to his (second) death, Omen was able to remember fragments of his past — that he used to be an assassin for the Scions of Hourglass, going by the alias Ghost, and that he was given the task of killing Viper, which led to his transformation after he failed to kill her.
Phoenix
Hailing from England, Jamie Adeyemi, codename: Phoenix, is a Radiant who can harness the power of flames to both deal damage and heal himself. He attended a Performing Arts School and was recruited by the Valorant Protocol after being suspended.
On a solo mission in Venice, he failed to stop a spike explosion that led to the destruction of a part of the city and creating the map Ascent. Wanting to redeem himself, he was sent on a new mission in Rabat, where he came face-to-face with his own counterpart and learned of the existence of Omega Earth.
Raze
Tayane Alves, codename: Raze, is an engineer from Salvador, Brazil. She has a knack for building explosives sprinkled with a little bit of artistry, which is reflected in her booming and in-your-face playstyle.
Her talent in explosives served its purpose in driving away Kingdom operations in her hometown, forcing them to abandon their sites. She was invited to join the Valorant Protocol where she focuses on blowing up an even bigger threat to her home.
Reyna
Zyanya Mondragón, codename: Reyna is a Radiant who hails from Mexico and possesses the ability to absorb the life energy from the souls of those she has killed. Despite appearing cold and heartless, Reyna set up a sanctuary prior to becoming an agent, where she helped people escape from Kingdom and established a community.
She holds a soft spot for her sister, Lucia, who is constantly on the verge of dying. She joined the Valorant Protocol to collect souls that, with the help of Viper and other scientists, could be transferred to Lucia and extend her lifespan.
