Assassin’s Creed Rogue is one of the most overlooked entries in the Ubisoft series, and it’s easy to understand why. It launched in November 2014, on the same day as Assassin’s Creed Unity. While Unity was the next-generation offering, Rogue acted as the final outing for the previous round of consoles, but made its way to PC early in 2015. If you missed it the first time around, now might be the ideal time to give it a second chance, as Ubisoft has just brought Steam achievements to the open-world game as part of its continued rollout.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue is the latest Ubisoft game to get a full complement of Steam achievements, following in the wake of other entries in the series along with more of the studio’s best open-world games such as Far Cry 3 and 4. It feels very much like a spiritual successor to the mighty Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, following the events of privateer and Assassin Shay Patrick Cormac as he defects to the rival Templars.
That means you can expect much of the aspects that made Black Flag one of Assassin’s Creed’s most beloved installments. Along with its sprawling open world, there’s ship-based exploration and combat, honed and improved from its first outing. You also get access to limited long-range weapons among your toolbox of gadgets, although most of the action still takes place in classic up-close-and-personal fashion.
The full list of Assassin’s Creed Rogue Steam achievements numbers 46 in total, ranging from story progression to rewards from the likes of upgrading your ship, The Morrigan, completing side activities, and finding all manner of hidden secrets around the world. If this is tempting you to jump in, it’s also worth noting that Rogue comes in at a lower price point than many entries in the series, and is a shorter offering than some of the recent Ubisoft behemoths such as Odyssey and Valhalla.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue is available on Steam priced at $19.99 / £16.99. Its user score sits at a ‘very positive’ rating, with 85% of player reviews recommending it, so if you’re on the search for your next achievement-hunting adventure, this might be it.
