- Roronoa Zoro is gearing up for a major battle in the Final Saga.
- Zoro has already shown his fighting skills against Lucci in the Egghead arc.
- Zoro’s upcoming opponent in Elbaf is likely to be Gunko, a Holy Knight.
One Piece’s Elbaf arc has proven to be quite spectacular and fans are already eager for some massive battles to unfold. After Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates uncovered all the big screws about Elbaf’s geography, fans knew that some big battles were going to be awaiting them, especially since this is going to be a major arc akin to the likes of Whole Cake Island, Dressrosa, Wano, and Alabtasta, among others. Egghead, on the other hand, while major, was simply the gateway to the final saga, which means everything, from the intensity to the battles, will be much bigger here.

When it comes to the battles in Elbaf, there is one character that all fans have their eyes on right now, and it is none other than the combatant of the Straw Hat Pirates as well as the master swordsman, Roronoa Zoro. Fans are eager to see who Zoro will be fighting in Elbaf and it might just be that his big fight has already been decided.
Zoro’s Big Battles In The Final Saga
- Roronoa Zoro Is Awaiting A Big Battle
- Zoro Has Already Proven Himself Against Lucci
In the Final Saga of One Piece, Zoro is finally going to accomplish all his goals, and it is here that he will go on to surpass Dracule Mihawk and become the World’s Greatest Swordsman. But, as things stand, Zoro is far from Mihawk’s level. It will take him quite a bit to get to his level, and fans know that this is precisely why Zoro will be put through some tests in the ongoing arc. In Egghead, Zoro already faced off against some massive enemies. For instance, Zoro fought against Lucci in the Egghead arc and while it was a very high-intensity battle that was extremely close, in the end, Zoro got the upper hand. That said, it must be remembered that Zoro never truly beat Lucci as the latter was never defeated.
As for the manga, we’ve finally arrived in Elbaf! It’s a laid-back kingdom, but the serenity is about to be shattered by the arrival of a particular man! Meanwhile, there will be tumult in other seas as well! And at last, that one guy will begin shaking up the world! Take a deep breath now, because soon you may not be able to come up for air! Please look forward to a SUUUUUUPER year of One Piece in 2025! – Eiichiro Oda
Lucci wasn’t the only one who Zoro clashed against in the Egghead arc of One Piece. As fans know, Nusjuro and Zoro also had a confrontation in the Egghead arc, and it was certainly fun to see these two clash their blades, which kept the fans at the edge of their seats, and at the same time, set up major battles for the final saga of the story. These clashes were, however, not full-on and fans know that neither satisfied them, at the end of the day. Zoro vs Lucci was a battle where fans absolutely didn’t get to see anything exciting, and the fight didn’t even conclude due to the arrival of the Five Elders on Egghead. Meanwhile, the clash vs Nusjuro was only a teaser of bigger things to come.
Then, I will become the King of Hell! — Roronoa Zoro
As such, fans know that so far, Zoro has been largely disappointing in the Final Saga. That said, his big moments will come up soon and all the readers are hoping that he gets to shine in Elbaf as he plans to fight against some of the most dangerous characters in the entirety of One Piece.
Zoro’s Next Opponent Is Likely To Be Gunko
Zoro Vs Gunko Appears To Be On The Cards, For Now
With the Elbaf arc finally revealing its villains to the fans, readers know that they are looking forward to welcoming a new opponent for Zoro. Right now, only two villains exist in the Elbaf arc of One Piece, and these are Shamrock Figarland, and Gunko, both being members of the Holy Knights of the Celestial Dragons. While fans would love to see Zoro fight Shamrock Figarland, especially since he’s a swordsman, they’d end up being disappointed at the end of the day. Shamrock Figarland is not Zoro’s to fight in Elbaf, exciting as this clash might’ve been. Zoro is nowhere near his level and cannot defeat him even if he tries.
Have you ever seen a wild animal you were sure wouldn’t bite? — Zoro
For him, someone of a lower strength tier would be more beatable, and thus, at this point in time, Gunko appears to be the only one Zoro can go on to fight against and beat. Then again, fans need to keep in mind that while Zoro vs Gunko will be a very exciting battle, Zoro has often shown reluctance to finish off his women enemies. As such, this clash, which is likely to happen, could just be a skirmish for a while before Zoro’s main enemies show up. Zoro could engage Gunko in battle and stop her in her tracks in the Underworld of Elbaf, while Nami and Road free Loki. This would then set up Loki joining the battle as well, and if that happens Zoro is definitely not going to get his chance to fight against either Shamrock or Gunko.

Shamrock and Shanks are both powerful fighters. Who is stronger in One Piece?
Zoro might have to get a new opponent for himself when the battle in Elbaf officially kicks off, especially since Loki is likely going to get a more difficult fight here on Elbaf since he’s stronger than Zoro.
Who Will Zoro’s Final Opponent Be In Wano?
Zoro’s Final Opponent Will Be A Holy Knight
Right now, it is unclear as to who Zoro’s final Elbaf opponent is. But, Oda had two paths ahead of himself. Either Zoro will go on to fight against Gunko and overcome his weakness to strike her down, or Oda will have to introduce a new enemy for Zoro to fight. It must be said, Zoro is perfectly suited to figuring Gunko, but if she gets taken by Loki as Luffy takes on Shamrock, then Zoro will likely have to battle against someone else.
Thankfully, Shamrock Figarland had already made it clear in One Piece that he wants to get more forces to crush Elbaf with full power. Shamrock and Gunko alone are not enough. The fans will likely see the Holy Knights, at least in some capacity, head to Elbaf and work together with Gunko and Shamrock. This would be the perfect opportunity to introduce a strong swordsman as a member of the Holy Knights, who will go on to become Zoro’s main opponent.
