Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has officially debuted on Disney+ and kicked off a whole new story of Peter Parker, his friends, family and enemies. The animated series launched with two new episodes this week. That was just enough to give critics a chance to weigh in on what they think the quality of the series, as it moves forward will be, and so far at least, those critics are quite impressed with this version of the well-trod Spider-Man story.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an animated tale of Peter Parker as he navigates a high school that is set up for gifted students in the field of science. In that regard, the show isn’t all that different from Tom Holland’s version of the character. However, it becomes clear early on that the animation style – done to look like a comic book at times – is just part of what makes the Disney+ series stand out. It becomes clear early on that some of the more well known characters in this series have been shuffled a bit. Such as a new look at Norman Osborne as Peter’s boss thanks to an internship.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Is A Critical Hit
It’s still in the early going but so far, critics absolutely love Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man as the show currently has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The score could change quite drastically over the next few days as more reviews come in but it’s certainly a nice start for a show that is aiming big with its new approach to familiar subjects. As of the time of writing, there have been 11 verified reviews logged on Rotten Tomatoes and all of those reviews have popped up as fresh. However, the audience score isn’t quite as good as that score is 78% so far.
Comments like “Peter Parker has a killer track record and Marvel Animation’s newest series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, only adds to that pristine legacy,” are just part of the things that the critics have enjoyed about the new series. Coleman Domingo, who voices what appears to be one of the series’ “big bads” in Norman Osborn, has especially drawn rave reviews.
Since it was first unveiled, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has made it clear that the show wants to offer a new spin on characters that are very family to Marvel comics and Spider-Man lore in particular. Those promises have already been realized in the first two episodes to some degree.
The first two episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man are now available to watch on Disney+ and the series promises to deliver more episodes weekly. This first season saw the first two episodes hit on January 29, with the third, fourth and fifth episodes launching on February 5. The sixth, seventh and eighth episodes will air on February 12 and the 9th and 10th episodes will wrap up the season on February 19.
