Throne and Liberty is about to get a lot bigger, as NCSoft and Amazon Games prepare to launch the free-to-play MMORPG’s first expansion. Throne and Liberty: Wilds of Talandre will take us to a new zone filled with all manner of challenges and activities. You can look forward to a bump to the level cap, new solo and multiplayer dungeons, more field bosses, the much-anticipated arrival tier two gear, and a wealth of lifestyle content including more fish, cooking recipes, and collectibles.

Throne and Liberty has continued to do well for itself since it arrived for players worldwide in October 2024, holding onto its spot as the most-played free MMORPG on Steam. We recently got a glimpse of the major combat rework that’s accompanying the expansion, but now we’ve got a full showcase of what’s coming in Wilds of Talandre, and it’s looking like a fantastic time to jump back in. We’ll be journeying to the eponymous region, home to the Temple of Truth.

The character level cap is rising from 50 to 55, and lifestyle profession caps will be raised to 25. Reach the new maximum and bring your combat power up to 3,500 and you’ll have access to a new tier of three-star dungeons, with five available to test your skills. If you think you’ve got what it takes, there are new solo dungeons with plenty of rewards and some unique mechanics. Overcome them and you’ll be better prepared to take on the expansion’s most challenging encounters.

Of course, trials in any MMO are nothing without rewards – alongside the introduction of tier two gear, Wilds of Talandre’s dungeons also offer the likes of Amitoi, training dew, abyssal contract token points, and crafting materials, including the opportunity to drop Dimensional Soul Shards for each of the three-star dungeons.

Looking for even more valuable loot? You’ll want to head to Nebula Island, a new ‘interserver activity’ zone that you can access once you reach level 55. It comprises a central village camp and six regions packed with hourly events and regular field boss battles. One zone is peaceful, while four of them have PvP enabled at all times. By default you can only spend a maximum of seven hours per week on Nebula Island, although you can increase this with special charge stones.

Spend time on Nebula Island and in Talandre’s abyss dungeons, and you’ll earn yourself new Artifact item sets. There are 14 of these sets, and you’ll earn increasing bonuses by equipping two, four, or six matching pieces from a given set. Alongside four ‘Talistone’ slots, you’ll want to keep a special eye out for Solar Stones, which grant you unique active skills, and Lunar Stones, which offer a range of passive skills.

Weapon mastery has been reworked alongside the combat revamp, offering more ways to customize your weapons of choice. Your existing mastery level will be converted into experience points in the new system, which allows you to select various nodes across a range of categories to alter or empower skills in different ways to suit your playstyle.

Of course, it doesn’t have to be all about the action. Wilds of Talandre introduces a range of additional content on the cozier side of the MMO. There are 24 new fish to catch and four more rod types to help you hook them in. You’ll find plenty more collectibles to gather and forage, too, alongside ten new cooking recipes. You can even cook up attack, defense, and purification elixirs. To help you track everything down, your Amitoi can be sent on Talandre expeditions in search of additional goodies.

Throne and Liberty: Wilds of Talandre launches Thursday March 6 as a free update. You can play the game for free on Steam. Amazon Games and NCSoft promise even more arriving alongside the update, teasing that the features here “are not a comprehensive list” of every change and addition.
