The Status of Hollow Knight’s Characters Leading to Silksong

The Status of Hollow Knight's Characters Leading to Silksong

If Hollow Knight: Silksong intends to have a huge world, it will need to fill it with many things to do in order to ensure players won’t get bored while exploring it. A healthy number of interesting characters should be one such requirement, and it’s likely that Team Cherry is planning on taking some figures from the world of Hollow Knight and carrying them over to its next project. However, one has to wonder who has a shot of appearing in the game and who doesn’t.

People who are looking forward to Hollow Knight: Silksong have likely played its predecessor, meaning that they may have gotten close to or at least aware of the characters from the previous game’s journey. While all of them were interesting and entertaining, it’s clear that not every character will be reappearing within the sequel. Should the developer consider bringing back some old faces, it’s likely going to go with only the most sensible returns, and it’s possible to speculate about who would make the most sense.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has the opportunity to introduce areas like The Hive from its predecessor, but should Team Cherry do so for the sequel?

Hollow Knight Characters That May Make a Reappearance in Silksong

The characters that are believed to appear in Silksong already seem like an interesting bunch, but the sequel’s cast could quickly grow larger if the idea of returning characters is embraced. Looking back at the original Hollow Knight, some characters have fates which allow them to logically make a reappearance in the sequel, potentially add to the game’s world and its overall quality. The following characters are potential contenders for a return:

  • Mister Mushroom has a high chance of making a return, especially since the character is known to pop up in random locations and had a dedicated secret ending in the previous game.
  • The Hunter could come back in the sequel, as he states in the previous games that a true Hunter has no home or kingdom, implying a nomadic lifestyle.
  • Bretta has a chance of making a reappearance in the kingdom of Pharloom, as her quest to find her true love may see her find herself in a new and strange land.
  • Hollow Knight‘s annoyingly entertaining character, Zote, could make a return, as his wandering nature could see him suddenly showing up in the kingdom of Pharloom.
  • Cornifer’s love of cartography could see him wanting to map out Pharloom, especially since he has already done what he can with Hallownest.

Among Hollow Knight’s cast of interesting characters, the ones mentioned above would be the easiest to bring back in Silksong. However, nothing is guaranteed, as Team Cherry can either surprise fans by bringing back NPCs nobody would have expected, or it could introduce new characters to fill old roles like cartography and hunting.

Characters From Hollow Knight Who Have Seemingly No Chance of Making a Return

If there are characters who have a shot at making a return, there are also those who have little to no chance of doing so. These are just a few of the characters who likely won’t be making their way into the kingdom of Pharloom:

  • Quirrel had an interesting story in the previous game, but it’s been implied that he died after exploring Hallownest, considering his final dialogue and that only his Nail can be found in the Blue Lake.
  • If players follow Hollow Knight‘s natural story progression, then they will see the brave warrior Cloth’s death, meaning that the lovable but fierce warrior has almost no chance of returning unless people went out of their way to ensure she survives.
  • The Seer played a vital role in helping The Knight, but with the completion of her tasks to help save Hallownest, she has faded into essence and should have no more reason to make a reappearance.

Team Cherry’s update regarding Silksong told everyone that the sequel is still in development, meaning that fans can continue to speculate on what may or may not be added to the game. There is hope that some characters from Hollow Knight find their way into the sequel, especially those whose fates have no known conclusion, but only time will tell which of them return – if any.
