Summary

  • Arc weapons and subclasses will likely shine in Episode Heresy, as well as the new auto rifle Adamantite.
  • Adamantite, a Support Frame auto rifle, offers healing in the primary slot and debuff abilities.
  • The Nether activity in Heresy requires healing, making Adamantite invaluable.

It has been a rough year overall for Destiny 2, and despite the high highs of The Final Shape, the game is in recovery mode right now after a buggy, poorly received Episode in the form of Revenant. Heresy is now less than one week away, and it is poised to be a good release for the game based on what Bungie has revealed about it, like a new roguelike experience on The Dreadnaught and buffs to Destiny 2‘s Arc subclasses. As it stands, Episode Heresy seems likely to be all about Arc in terms of loot, Artifact perks, and even in-game modifiers, but a non-Arc weapon revealed in the official livestream may be the best of the bunch.

It’s only natural that Arc weapons and subclasses will become meta in Heresy, especially with the hefty buffs some guns are getting – like D.A.R.C.I., Wardcliff Coil, and more Exotics. Heresy will also add new Arc weapons for players to farm, both in their regular version and their Heretic Arsenal form (which is a different spin on Adept weapons), so it’s likely that they will be all the rage for Guardians. However, Destiny 2‘s new meta weapon may actually be a Strand auto rifle called Adamantite.

Destiny 2 Fans Have Big Complaint About the Game’s Story

Longtime fans in the Destiny 2 community have a major complaint about the game’s ongoing story before the launch of Episode: Heresy.

Why Destiny 2 Players Shouldn’t Sleep on Adamantite

Adamantite is the second-ever Support Frame auto rifle in Destiny 2, with the first being No Hesitation, a Solar weapon introduced with The Final Shape. Support Frame auto rifles are in their infancy in terms of in-game life, but No Hesitation skyrocketed to the top spots of the most used guns in the game when it launched. This weapon archetype allows players to shoot allies to heal them and shoot enemies to damage them, which makes it very versatile and potentially life-saving in some cases, like GM Nightfalls or even Raids and Dungeons.

Adamantite is a Strand Support Frame auto rifle, which is the first of its kind, and more importantly, it’s a great alternative to No Hesitation thanks to occupying the Kinetic slot in a loadout. It’s not uncommon for Destiny 2 builds to have Exotic Special weapons or at least powerful damage-dealing ones, which can leave the Kinetic slot in a strange spot. With a Strand Support Frame auto rifle, meaning it will have infinite ammo since it’s a Primary weapon, players can safely slot it in any multiplayer activity in Destiny 2. On top of that, Adamantite will create Unravel projectiles when repeatedly healing allies, which can both play into Strand-based builds and help with add-clearing in general.

Why Adamantite is Going to be One of Destiny 2’s Best Weapons

That is not all, however, as the main activity for Episode Heresy is going to be The Nether. In The Nether, players will not regenerate health naturally, and instead will have to treat it as a “currency” that will help them explore The Dreadnaught and get more loot the longer they can keep it without running out. As such, with strong roguelike elements in the main activity of the Episode, it only makes sense that a healing weapon will be extremely valuable in any Destiny 2 build.

Adamantite can also roll two different perks that allow players to apply the Sever debuff, which reduces the damage dealt by enemies. This is also incredibly valuable in high-end PvE activities, even outside The Nether, as reducing incoming damage while also healing allies is a win-win situation. Destiny 2‘s Arc Warlocks may be OP in Heresy, and Arc in general, but Adamantite is likely going to stick around in the long run given how strong it can be in any team-based activity, regardless of temporary Artifact mods. Not all Heresy weapons have been revealed, but this is already a clear winner and one that players should keep an eye on.
