Many fans are getting impatient to know when Path of Exile 1 update 3.26 will be released. Players have taken to social media to inquire about Path of Exile 1 news from Grinding Gear Games, as the developer had previously said that updates would come in late February.
A big part of Path of Exile 2‘s success comes from what Grinding Gear Games accomplished with PoE 1 in the first place. The game started as an indie project back in 2006, with a team of Diablo fans who wanted to bring something new to the action RPG genre. PoE went on to become massively popular, partly because of its deep gameplay system and free-to-play model. The game evolved significantly over the years through updates and player feedback, so much so that at first, PoE 2 was just going to be an update for PoE 1, but the developer later decided it was a major overhaul that needed to be a sequel. Even though PoE 2 is very popular now, longtime PoE players still want news about the original game.

With all the buzz surrounding Path of Exile 2, the game has become GGG’s main priority, prompting fans to take to social media to ask for PoE 1 news. In different Reddit posts, players are recalling the last thing the developer said about update 3.26, where GGG told them that news would come in late January. On October 31, the developer posted on its website informing players that update 3.26 would not come in 2024 due to the number of resources PoE 2 was demanding.
Path of Exile 1 News Is Supposed to Arrive in Late February
However, GGG did promise that the new league would happen at some point, though the release window would remain “flexible” due to the anticipated challenges of launching Path of Exile 2. Then, in a video interview on November 22, game director Jonathan Rogers reassured fans that “there will absolutely be leagues launching” for PoE 1 sometime in late February. Rogers admitted that the studio has had to “steal” PoE 1 resources to make PoE 2 work. He told fans they were going to make sure the leagues launched in February, but there has been no news since that interview.
At this point, players are asking for an “announcement of an announcement” just to have a clear idea of when the new update is going to happen. Several players have expressed concerns about how ongoing support for Path of Exile 2 could undermine the development of the first game, with some even advising the community to buckle up for a July release of the new leagues. While players are craving more information, whatever GGG has in store for PoE in 2025 remains to be seen.
