Lies of P’s DLC May Be Better Off Biding its Time

Lies of P's DLC May Be Better Off Biding its Time

To many Soulslike fans, Lies of P has set a new bar for the genre, delivering an experience that falls just short of FromSoftware’s incredibly high standards. Developers Neowiz and Round8 managed to capture the essence of what a good Soulslike should be, offering interconnected level design, great boss fights, responsive parry and riposte mechanics, satisfying combat, and a handful of its own innovative features.

Lies of P has amassed quite a loyal fan-base since its September 2023 launch, and those fans are eager to see what’s next for the Soulslike series. Just a few months after its initial launch, a Lies of P DLC was officially announced by Neowiz, and in November of last year, that DLC was officially given a Q1 2025 release window. But Q1 2025 is officially here, and given the current slate of upcoming video games, it might be best for Lies of P‘s DLC to hold off a little while longer.

Lies of P developer/publisher Neowiz is reportedly working on a survival horror game, which could repeat the excellence of its last major project.

Lies of P’s DLC Might Want to Steer Clear of Q1 2025

The Rest of Q1 2025 Is Still Filled With Major Video Game Releases

Some absolutely huge video games are still set to release in Q1 2025, a period that typically lasts from January 1 to March 31. Civilization 7, Avowed, Monster Hunter Wilds, Split Fiction, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows are all just a few of the biggest titles releasing in February and March, making it a tough few months for those on a bit of a budget.

Q1 2025 is also filled with games that have an action focus, some of which feature third-person combat mechanics that aren’t too dissimilar to those found in Lies of P. Eternal Strands, Hyper Light Breaker, and Dynasty Warriors Origins are action-heavy games that have all come out in the last few weeks, while Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and The First Berserker: Khazan are all melee combat-focused titles set to release throughout the rest of Q1 2025.

While Lies of P fans would still likely prioritize playing DLC over anything else released during Q1, if developer/publisher Neowiz wants to attract a wider audience for the game and thrust the DLC into the mainstream spotlight, it might need to choose a quieter launch window.

A Delay Feels Like It Could Be on The Cards for Lies of P’s DLC

January is almost over, which means we’re about a third into Q1 2025 already. Despite that, there’s been no official word on Lies of P‘s DLC since last November. There’s been no reveal trailer, no gameplay, no tease of any new locations or story beats, and not even a title announcement.

It’s always possible that a trailer for Lies of P‘s DLC could release imminently, and that it’s quickly followed by the DLC’s launch a few weeks later. It’s even possible that the DLC will be shadow-dropped sometime in the coming weeks. But it’s important for Neowiz not to rush development. A lot of fans are expecting big things from Lies of P‘s DLC, and they’d be happy to wait as long as they need to for it to deliver.
