The Trading system in Pokemon TCG Pocket lets you exchange cards with other players on your friends list. There are a few restrictions in place to prevent players from abusing this system, but trading is still very helpful if you want to complete your collection or get a duplicate of a card for a new deck.

At first, trading can seem a bit complicated due to these restrictions, but that’s where we can help. Below, we’ll take a look at everything you need to know about trading, including which cards you can trade and how to get the currencies you need to do so.
How To Trade
To start trading, go to the Social Hub menu, then tap on Trade. Here, you’ll see your current Trade Tokens, Trade Stamina, a button that says Trade, and any active trade requests. Tap on the Trade button, and your friends list will open. Here, select the person you want to trade with.
Next, you’ll need to choose the card you want to trade to your friend. Once you confirm your trade, it will send an invitation to trade that card. Then, your friend will open up the invitation and choose the card they want to trade in exchange.
Now, you will be able to see the card they offered you, and you can accept the trade. If both players agree to the offer, the trade will go through, and you will receive their card and they will receive your card.
Trading Restrictions
There are a few restrictions to keep in mind before trading.
- Trading requires Trade Stamina, which recovers at a rate of one every 24 hours.
- Only cards of the same rarity can be traded.
- Trading cards of 3-Diamond or higher rarity requires Trade Tokens.
- Only cards up to 1-Star rarity can be traded.
- Promo cards can not be traded
How To Get Trade Tokens
If you want to trade cards of 3-Diamond or higher rarity, you will need to spend Trade Tokens. The main method for acquiring these is to convert duplicates of cards in your collection, but you can also get them through time-limited events or missions.
To do this, open up your collection and select the card you want to convert, then select the Obtain Items option. Here, select the Trade Tokens option to convert the card into Trade Tokens.
Here’s the conversion rate for obtaining Trade Tokens.

The system can be a little confusing, so let’s use an example. Say you want to trade a Charizard ex for your friend’s Mewtwo ex. First, you’ll both need to acquire 500 Trade Tokens by whatever means, whether that’s by converting four other ex cards, or a variety of 3-Diamond cards, 4-Diamond cards, 1-Star cards, and so on.
Once you both have enough Trade Tokens, you can initiate the trade to receive each other’s card. In effect, this means you’ll be converting five ex cards to receive the one ex card you want, so long as you have a friend who wants to do the same.
You can only convert cards in your collection that you have more than two copies of. However, this restriction does not apply to trading the card itself; you can trade your last copy of a card, as long as you have the Trade Tokens to do so.
