Without The Whetstone, Tails Of Iron 2 Is Great Again

Tails of Iron 2 is back on track after overhauling the whetstone.

If you’ve played Tails Of Iron, then King Redgi is a familiar character: the game’s protagonist. Now it’s time to seek out The Crimson Knight’s assistance with Arlo and Winter’s Edge on the brink of an all-out war against the Darkwing menace.

How Do You Earn King Redgi’s Help?

After helping push the Darkwings out of The Warren in The Beasts Of White Whiskers, your next quest will be Finding Fellowship.

While the Darkwing threat grows, it’s time for Arlo to rally more allies to his cause for the battles that lie ahead. Before you can call the War Council, it’s time for some much-needed rest, so head up to your chambers and enjoy some.

Go back down to the banquet hall and set your sights on The Crimson Keep, where King Redgi might be able to provide aid.

Once you arrive at The Crimson Keep, go through the regal archway and progress to the left through the busy town until you reach the Crimson Fort area.

After Dug and Denis greet you, enter the throne room where you’ll meet King Redgi, and convince him to join in helping against the Darkwing.

However, before the King sends his forces to help, you’ll have to win a trial by combat to prove your worth; meet Redgi on the far right side of the town, near where you entered.

How To Beat Dug In Trial By Combat

Speak to the guard here and select the boss option, then “Trial By Combat: Dug” to prove yourself. Enter the Trial Grounds and begin your first round against Dug.

Dug moves slowly and uses a double-bladed lance. Dodge his dash attack that can close the gap and steer clear of his diving attack from the air.

Despite his lack of speed, Dug is incredibly sturdy, so take things slowly and be careful of Dug’s ranged Lance throw, which is difficult to dodge unless you get behind him.

Dug is weak against poison and fire attacks; switch to the best weapons you have for each type to deal increased damage against this difficult foe.

Hit Dug with poison attacks from range, and soon he will be defeated, finishing the first of the Trial By Combat side quests.

How To Beat Denis In Trial By Combat

Exit the trial grounds and talk to the guard again, selecting “Trial By Combat: Denis” as your next challenge before returning to the Trial Grounds.

Step forward and face Denis, who opens with a crossbow shot. Denis isn’t much faster than Dug, but his ranged attacks make him a more threatening opponent.

Don’t forget to use your Whetstone to make these battles easier, as the increased damage is essential, even if you’re using the best weapons available.

Denis is weak to Poison and Ice; set up the corresponding traps while he lumbers towards you with his shield up.

With Denis briefly stunned by walking into your traps, you can capitalize on the opening with follow-up Elementa attacks.

Using careful positioning and counterattacks, Denis will go down too, arguably even more easily than Dug.

How To Beat King Redgi, The Crimson Knight In Trial By Combat

Your last opponent is King Redgi himself, who is easily the most difficult opponent of the three. Prepare well for this fight and replenish your potion via the barrel behind you if needed.

Don’t be afraid to go back to Winter’s Edge and replenish your traps and other supplies as well. Having your full arsenal at your disposal will help immensely in this battle.

When you’re ready, step forward and face Redgi, The Crimson Knight.

Redgi is only vulnerable to ice, so switch to your best ice weapons and employ your Ice Elementa to deal major damage.

Be careful to avoid Redgi’s poison bottles and the resulting lingering damage on the ground.

Much like your previous fights, Redgi’s attacks are straightforward dashes and occasional ground slams, so keep an eye out for red glows and prioritize dodging; don’t get greedy.

Redgi also fires electric projectiles, so block these if possible, or dodge behind him during his windup and counterattack if you’re close enough.

After you deal the final blow to Redgi, the trial will be complete.

What Rewards Do You Get From Finding Fellowship?

Arlo completes Finding Fellowship in Tails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winter.

Meet Redgi by the docks by passing through the archway and going left.

Redgi and Burtle will take the Fuzzlebug to Mount Cauldron for the coming war, and you’ll be rewarded with the following items for your troubles:

  • 25 Gold
  • Five Gold Ingots
  • Five Silver Ingots

With your allies rallied behind you, you can finally make for Mount Cauldron and prepare for your next quest, The Fellowship Of The Wing.
