One such Fieldwork side quest is ‘Lost in the Past,’ which takes Indy on a trip down memory lane. Consequently, ‘Lost in the Past’ is a quest that seems designed to be deliberately disorientating, featuring various puzzles and objectives to unravel as Indy goes through a dream-like level that shifts and changes with almost every turn. For those struggling to complete this quest, below is a detailed walkthrough of ‘Lost in the Past’ to help you find your way.

How to Complete Lost in the Past in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
How to Start the Lost in the Past Quest
To start ‘Lost in the Past’ in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, you must first complete another side quest called ‘The Kid Who Vanished,’ which becomes available while progressing through ‘The Blessed Pearl.’ After speaking with Sunan at the end of ‘The Kid Who Vanished,’ ‘Lost in the Past’ immediately becomes available.
Talk to Sunan
To get started, the first step is to speak to Sunan, who you can find at the docks of Khaimuk Saksit village in Sukhothai. This triggers a cutscene of Sunan telling Indy about a girl getting a mysterious Golden Fishing Hook. Now it’s time to see if there’s any truth to the tale.
Find the Cave
The next step is to find the cave from Sunan’s story. Take the boat to Wat Sa Si on the northwest of the map, as pictured above. Carefully head to the Nazi camp ahead, using the perimeter for cover and to avoid detection. Crawl through the small gap in the wall on the right side of the camp near the statues to find the cave within the building ruins up the steps.
There is a Ghost Report to grab on the crate left of the entrance, which details strange activity reported at the site. Head inside the building and down the steps. Now, use one of the sledgehammers to break the wall ahead.
Travel through the tunnel and gap in the wall ahead to find a strange stone pillar in the next room. On the way, you can also take a photo of the Large Skeleton on the floor. Once through the gap, photograph and interact with the Prayer Wheel to trigger a cutscene of Indy falling to the ground, waking up in what appears to be a dream version of Marshall College that you explored earlier in the game.
In the Prayer Wheel room, there’s another crawl space on the right where you can find an Ancient Relic at the top of a ledge by using the whip. You can also grab it on the way out after waking up near the Prayer Puzzle towards the end of the quest.
Find Out What’s Happening
The only objective is to find out what’s happening, so photograph and head through the double doors ahead, following the corridor around. You’ll trigger various environmental changes while exploring Marshall College, such as the light above a chessboard that you can photograph. Continue forward and speak to Antonio three times, who appears in three places as you follow the looping corridor path.
Take the door on the right that is now open, and take the letter from Brody inside. Exit the room, turning right down the corridor past Brody, and continue following the corridor around until the next door on the right mysteriously opens by itself, leading you into the Lecture Hall.

Here are all the codes that are required for locked chests and safes found throughout the Sukhothai region of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Lecture Hall Puzzle Solution
To solve the Lecture Hall puzzle, you need to place the following three objects in the room on the desk as pictured above:
- Golden Idol – middle position.
- Cat Mummy Statue – left position.
- Medallion – right position.
Doing so reveals a symbol on the chalkboard behind the desk that reads “Heh-zam-eesh.” Take a photo of the symbol using the camera to complete the puzzle. Exit the room, turning right down the corridor and following the shadowy figure ahead, who turns out to be Nawal. Talk to Nawal and do another lap of the corridor until Nawal appears again on the left. Speak with her again and press on, talking to her a third time.
Turn left to see the door on the right spring open. Answer the ringing telephone inside to trigger a cutscene and grab the Adamic note off the desk when the scene ends. This time, when you exit the room to the right, the corridors will be even more creepy and jungle-like.
Sacred Wounds Puzzle Solution
Keep following the corridor round to the right and grab Ernesto’s note off the podium in the middle of the corridor. Do another lap of the corridor, speak with Brody again, and keep going until the door on the right opens for a third time. Inside, you’ll find Antonio near a version of the Sacred Wounds Jesus puzzle you solved in the Vatican City. After pouring the nearby bottle of wine inside the podium, use the same solution to solve the Jesus puzzle by moving the sticks as follows:
- Position 2 for both hands.
- Position 3 for Jesus’s hip and left foot.
- Position 4 for Jesus’s right foot.
This causes the puzzle mural to rotate and reveal a secret entrance. Descend the steps and grab the book with Gina’s note inside. Remove the note to trigger a short scene.
Find Room 11
Things only get stranger as you wake up in a different location on the ceiling, turning the environment topsy-turvy. Follow the strange upside-down looping corridors, grabbing Numeral V from the podium ahead and Numeral X from the one further along.
While most doors remain locked by the past or future, you can place the Numeral X on the plaque by the door with the letter I near the podium to find room 11 and open it. Photograph the symbol on the board near Brody inside.
How to Escape the Giant
Turn around and grab your hat off the podium ahead. Doing so triggers a giant that runs towards you and instantly kills you when close, unless you run away. To escape the giant, quickly turn around after grabbing the hat and run through the collapsing level and dream sequence until Indy wakes up.
Prayer Wheel Puzzle Solution (How to Get the Golden Fishing Hook)
On waking, solve the Prayer Wheel puzzle by turning the stones as follows to get the Golden Fishing Hook:
- Top wheel – turn once to the left.
- Middle wheel – twice in any direction (we turned it twice to the left).
- Bottom wheel – once to the left.
To complete ‘Lost in the Past,’ grab the Golden Fishing Hook and give it to Sunan back at the village, where you will receive 800 Adventure Points as a reward.
