As you collect the different types of knowledge hidden on several islands, you’ll unlock technologies that will aid in your journey and allow you to progress. Once you have access to all the technologies, you’ll be able to clear the corruption on the Leviathan, which will be your most challenging and final task.
How To Find The Leviathan
The Leviathan is a living island, which makes it challenging to find as it is constantly flying through the air and changing its position. There is a chance you may see it hovering above you while you are out sailing or exploring an island, but there is another way to guarantee you will find its exact location.
Using a Stormchaser, you can find out what direction the Leviathan is in. To do so, you will need a few items:
- Whistling Core x1
- Charcoal x1
- Clean Water x1
- Windstone x5
Once you activate the Stormchaser, you will be able to track the Leviathan by sailing in the direction of the smoke.
Your Stormchaser will be tracking the Leviathan for a limited duration only. Once the time has run out, you will need to use the same materials to activate the Stormchaser again. Make sure you have additional materials in stock so you can keep tracking the moving Leviathan.
Once you find the Leviathan, you will see that it is made up of several tiny islands. As soon as you reach the beast, it will appear on your map similar to how other islands are visible there. Once it appears on your map, you will be able to mark it so that a green beam will appear on one of its islands and you will be able to use it to guide you to its location at all times.
How To Clear The Leviathan Boss
When you discover the Leviathan, you will find that each of the islands on its back suffers from the same corruption the other corrupted islands are afflicted by. That said, you will simply need to cure the Leviathan by performing the same task of destroying every Corruption Node on its surface.
There are plenty of Corruption Nodes spread out across the Leviathan’s back, and you will need to clear them out while also defending yourself from the hostile fungal mobs that will be charging at you as you cleanse the islands.
Your task is straight-forward, but it is by no means easy. You will need to prepare a few things to succeed in your fight against the corruption.
Equip Yourself With Weapons And Bandages
To clear the Leviathan, you need to have a weapon coated in Mykter Antidote. There will be Corruption Barriers for a number of nodes, and only a weapon coated in the antidote will be able to break through them. Your weapon’s coating will run out eventually, so either be prepared to head back home to recoat it or have another coated weapon ready.
Another weapon you should have on hand is a Bow. This will allow you to shoot at the nodes from a distance to protect yourself from the vines and the mobs. There will also be some Corruption Nodes that are a bit too high for you, and shooting them with an arrow will be the easiest way to destroy them.
The Leviathan will be constantly moving so if you get sent flying off its surface, you may find it difficult to get back on its back. Try to avoid the vines guarding the Corruption Nodes because they will swipe at you and send you off the island.
Lastly, have several bandages equipped so that you can heal when you take too much damage.
Eat And Prepare A Healthy Diet
Eating before a fight is one of the most important parts of your preparation. Different dishes will give you additional health and some will have useful buffs. You have up to two slots in your stomach for dishes and you can also drink Clean Water and Coffee to get the Hydrated buff for increased attack speed, and the Zippy buff for additional momentum.
Eat and prepare dishes that will grant the most amount of health and the most useful buffs. If you can, cook food that will give you the Efficient buff for increased attack damage and the Energetic buff for shorter movement combos.
Prepare stacks of these dishes and drinks so that you can restore your buffs after they run out.
Get Good Rest
Resting is an important part of survival as sleeping will grant you buffs that will enhance your performance in combat.
As you clear the corruption on one of the Leviathan’s islands, it will restore the ecosystem even if the rest are still corrupted. You can safely lie down on the ground here or take a rest if you need to recover for the next fight.
Sleep in a bed to get the Well-Rested buff which will grant you an increase in movement speed. After that, perform the Lay Down action on the ground to get the At Peace buff that will grant you minor regeneration as long as it is active.
Restore An Ecosystem
Whenever you restore an ecosystem, you will get the Enthusiastic buff. This will grant you increased damage, movement, attack speed, and momentum. Having this buff will aid you greatly in your fight against the corruption, so you should try to nab this before heading for the fight.

What To Do After Clearing The Leviathan
Once the corruption on the Leviathan’s back is gone, you can safely explore its different islands. You will find that there are plenty of resources that can be harvested from its surface, such as Wind Crystals and Salt Crystals. Go around collecting the various resources from the newly restored islands.
If you have enough of the basic resources, go around looking for purple flowers dangling from the large rocks on the Leviathan. These are Wisteria and they can only be seen and harvested on these islands. These can be used for making Wisteria Tea, a Teapot, and Wisteria Vines.
Unfortunately, you can’t turn the Leviathan’s back into a home base. You can, however, build structures on it so you can spend time beautifying the different islands which you can get creative with given its unique form of having several islands attached to each other. This gives you a lot of space to work with allowing for much bigger structures.
You can spawn your Home Island above the Leviathan, but since it is a moving living island your base will quickly be out of reach. You should have all the items needed for building on the Leviathan in your inventory before you start creating your structures.
