Ghost of Yotei, the long-awaited follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, is shaping up to be one of the biggest PlayStation first-party games of not just 2025, but the entire PlayStation 5 console generation. Announced during a State of Play in September 2024, the highly-anticipated open-world game is being developed by the Sony-owned studio Sucker Punch Productions, which is making its first-ever title from the ground up for PS5 hardware. Ghost of Yotei is, like the company’s previous game, going to be a completely standalone experience, so those who didn’t play Ghost of Tsushima will still be able to enjoy it.

Sony hasn’t announced a specific release date for Ghost of Yotei just yet, but many are speculating that the game will come out sometime in the fall. Regardless of what month it launches in, Ghost of Yotei will presumably have a collector’s edition available for purchase, just like many of the other recently-released AAA Sony games. If such a collector’s edition does exist, it’d be hard to say what items would be included in it. With that said, a statue of the wolf that’s featured in Ghost of Yotei‘s reveal trailer would be a great collectible for this version of the game.

Ghost of Yotei’s Collector’s Edition Should Come With a Wolf Statue

The Gray Wolf from Ghost of Yotei’s Reveal Trailer Could Be a Companion for Atsu

The announcement trailer for Ghost of Yotei is brief, but informative in a lot of ways. It implicitly tells viewers all they need to know about the game without an unnecessary exposition dump. One aspect of the trailer that is particularly worth highlighting is the presence of animals. Atsu, the protagonist of Ghost of Yotei, is not only seen riding a horse, but also taming a gray wolf at the end of the trailer. This may be an indication that some animals, namely wolves, will serve as companions in the game. Ghost of Yotei is seemingly going to take place in more rural and desolate locations compared to Ghost of Tsushima, so having an animal ally or two would come in handy for players who are trying to survive in the wilderness.

The Ghost of Yotei Collector’s Edition Will Probably Be Similar to Its Ghost of Tsushima Counterpart

If the gray wolf shown in the trailer does actually play a big role in Ghost of Yotei, then it’d be logical for Sony to make a statue out of it for the game’s collector’s edition. This wouldn’t be too unusual of an addition, considering the collector’s edition for Ghost of Tsushima contained some neat little trinkets, as well. This edition, however, didn’t come with any statues, but it did include a one-to-one replica of the ninja mask that Jin Sakai, the game’s protagonist, famously wore.

The Ghost of Tsushima collector’s edition also contained a handful of other items, such as an Island of Tsushima cloth map, a Sashimono war banner, a physical mini-art book, and a Furoshiki wrapping cloth. It also had some digital in-game goods, like a Hero of Tsushima skin set and an extra technique point. The Ghost of Yotei collector’s edition, if it even exists, will probably include items similar to these, as well.

Ghost of Yotei’s Collector’s Edition Will Likely Be Less than $200

Despite containing nearly a dozen different goodies, the Ghost of Tsushima collector’s edition “only” cost around $170, which wasn’t that pricey compared to collector’s editions for other AAA games. At the time that Ghost of Tsushima was released, AAA games were still $60, so the bonus items included in the collector’s edition essentially cost an additional $110. It’s safe to assume that, if a Ghost of Yotei collector’s edition does get made, it will probably be about the same price point (e.g. $170 to $190). The previously mentioned wolf statue may jack up the cost of the edition as a whole, especially if it’s made with high quality materials, but some Ghost of Yotei fans may still be willing to pay a premium price for it.

The sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yōtei is a PS5 exclusive scheduled to drop at some point in 2025. Taking place in 1603, the story will feature a new protagonist and a new Japanese region that is far removed from Tsushima’s setting.
